I find myself wearing this jacket (sweater, whatever) almost daily because of the style and functionality. It blocks out the wind and cold but is extremely light in weight. It's puffy but not overstuffed or bulky. I compared to the Marmot and I liked the fit and and fill of this one slightly better. I'm 6'4, 200 lbs with long arms and torso. I went with the XL and love the fit. It has enough room to layer with a fleece and isn't baggy in the body.
A warm jacket indeed. It's much warmer than the Patagonia Down Sweater, but also performs on par with some of the much heavier, bulkier jackets in my wardrobe. Patagonia has always excelled in the ability to pack alot of warmth in a lightweight package. In alot of cases, many down jackets can make you look like the Michelin Man, but this jacket doesn't create that effect at all. It offers a slim fit, but is very toasty and windproof. If you're looking for a good mid-weight jacket that performs exceptionally well in cool to cold conditions - the Hi Loft Jacket is a solid choice.
I just wore this outside in 25 degree weather with nothing but a thin long-sleeve tee underneath, and it was pretty comfortable. For the record, I hate the cold, and I would always rather sweat than shiver. If I wore an actual sweater underneath, or even added one more thin layer, I would have been really toasty in this. It fits very well - the sleeves are a perfect length and the cut allows for great range of motion. It's also really lightweight, which is a relief after years of heavy winter coats. All in all, a great purchase for the harsh NYC winter as well as outdoor physical activity.
My husband said he would never wear a puffer jacket. I swear by mine, so I went out on a limb and got him this Patagonia jacket for Christmas. He's worn it every day since. He loves the fact that he can have a short sleeve t-shirt on under this jacket and still be warm in 30 degree weather. Makes getting out of the house for a walk or quick trip to the store super easy. He says it is extremely flexible. And in my opinion it is stylish looking. The fabric seems a bit fragile...you probably don't want to do construction work in this jacket, but it's awesome for normal out and about in the cold.

A solid warm down jacket. I chose this over the other myriad of down shirt options because of the 800 fill and extra warmth. It doesn't disappoint. I can throw it on over a tshirt and stay perfectly warm in mid 30 degree weather. The extra puffiness isn't really that noticeable and I like the fact that there's a little extra length in the torso. May need an extra layer on the really cold days, but I have a feeling this is my new go to jacket from late fall through early spring.

I got this jacket this past week, been wearing it none stop. I was out on a high rise balcony last night in downtown Chicago and everyone else was complaining about the cold and I was nice and toasty in my new jacket. Buy one! It's nice!

Super light and very warm. I don't think you can ever go wrong with Patagonia products ever. For an extra $30 bucks more than the traditional down jacket, this is slightly more puffer and lighter feel.=)
