This is perfect for shoulder-season hikes as either alone or under a shell. It wicks well, fits nicely and has yet to develop any sort of funky smell. For winter it is great as a mid-layer under a thicker shell as well. The hood is also a nice addition when the weather takes a nasty twist. You cannot go wrong with adding this to the gear closet.
I absolutely love this thing. Better yet i got it free thru moosejaw rewards. It is extremely light weight and very warm for being so light. Its a great baselayer and would be a good standalone in 40+ degree weather. Be warned that it has a ribbed feel to it and is not particularly windproof though. It works great for me underneath a softshell in most temps. The hood is one of my favorite features as it hugs your neck very well adding a nice amount of warmth. It has great length and is slim, so its perfect for me. It seems like a lot of money for a hoody but when I think about how much I wear it and how well it is designed I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Cannot be beat for the fast and light backcountry ascents.Paired with a Arcteryx atom sv and Houdini it might be part of the ultimate(non-ice) alpine system for 3 season use.
Keeping it simple warm keeps you dry and did i mention the hood makes you look like a NINJA!!!! 6'1" 180 pounds broad ass shoulders, knuckles drag on the ground and the sleeves fit great. The torso also is long enough to cover your ass on the long reaches. Base layer or wear it alone if its above 40. A must have many reasons...DID I MENTION I LOOK LIKE A NINJA!!!!
First, let me say I usually don't have any trouble staying warm while doing anything strenuous, and tend to perspire quite a bit. So, after wearing this around the house and finding it almost too warm for indoors, I wore it on a climb / scramble on a 40-ish degree day and was a little concerned I might overheat. Not so. It kept me very comfortable and wicked away all the sweat I could manage to throw at it. During breaks and on top, it dried very fast and kept me toasty with the hood up and only a shell thrown over it to block the wind. I am totally impressed and will look to pick up another one when they are on sale...hint, hint.
So I just bought this yesterday. I'll start off by saying that it's one of the more comfortable pullovers that I own. I bought the previous version... it's a lot lighter and comparatively it's just as warm, if not warmer. The hood makes me look like a ninja, which is awesome. . .
