"Darker than I expected it to be but it is comfortable and what I expected"
I bought this looking for a good base layer for mountaineering, I wanted something light in color so when the sun hit it it wouldn't be increasingly warm if it needed to be an outer layer at some point. This being said it is very comfortable and it has thumb loops to help keep it in place when layering up. Over all I think it will serve its purpose well.
I was honestly a bit disappointed with this product. I brought it on a two week 101 mile backpacking trip and at first it was doing great. It kept me cool and provided great sun protection when I needed it. It was also great for layering at night when it cooled down but it started to fall apart on me very quickly. The seam on the right side split and started to unravel itself and soon after that I started to find multiple parts of this shirt coming unthreaded and I hadn't even done anything to the shirt that should constitute such wear and tear. It seems like this product is rather cheap and not the quality that I expect from Patagonia.
"Slim-fitting Polyester Base Layer with a Zip!"
The Patagonia Cap 2 is good but the Cap 2 Zip Neck is the Ballin'! I am 5' 11" and 135 lbs and I prefer to keep it close to the skin with a Men's Small. This shirt is machine washable and line dry. I use this shirt for layering, it's moisture wicking and pretty much seamless. When I travel I always bring at least one of these along. Pros: "Iron Clad warranty", next-to-skin comfort, breathable. Perfect for layering. Zip Neck: Woot Woot!Cons: Since this shirt is made of polyester it retains odors more than fabrics like wool. After wearing it as a baselayer for a few days, you'll def start to "smell it". But how often do you wear the same shirt multiple days? Bottom line: Love it. I now prefer merino wool, but this polyester shirt is at a great pricepoint and fits like like glove for your upper body. The Zip neck lets you "dump" heat when you get warm and let's you show of your chest. This is a perfect conversation starter!
