"Looks good, feels even better!" 11/19/12
I was in a pickle between the patagonia vest and another brand that was about half the price. I went with the patagonia and received it yesterday and it's very nice! I have a Patagonia pullover that is excellent quality and this vest only furthers opinion of patagonia products.I was also a bit skeptical about the material because I thought I would prefer a fleece outer material. However, this wool-knit material is very nice and probably more durable than fleece.I recommend this to anyone looking for a solid vest.
"The Patagonia Sweater Vest is Better than others" 06/27/12
Last year, I tried to find a less expensive alternative to the Patagonia Better Sweater Vest, but came up empty-handed after two months of looking. So, I bought it this year and now wonder why I went to all that trouble. I'm 5'6" and weigh 148 pounds, and the vest fits perfect. It pairs well with almost any shirt fabric, and it keeps my core warm, without overheating me. (The jacket looks good zipped and unzipped.) I have the Better Sweater 1/2 zip, but if I had to choose, I'd take the vest over the 1/2 zip. Moosejaw is a reliable company that takes customer service seriously, but still has fun selling great products and servicing its customers.
"Uncomfortable zip, poor design - not Patagonia standard" 03/01/11
The material is good, but the design is poor. The lining of the chest and hand pockets is stitched along the zip, which makes the zip very stiff. So the front of your jacket bows out when you sit or bend your body in front. The jacket juts out under the chest (where the stitching is flexible) as if something was sticking out of your chest. Think of it like pressing together two ends of a plastic stick with a slightly flexible part in the middle, it bows out. Besides looking very strange, it feels very uncomfortable, especially when you do anything that needs you to bend in front (sitting, climbing, picking up grass). For $90, and for what you expect from Patagonia, this is a bad, bad jacket.
