The Men's Better Sweater 1/4 Zip by Patagonia. A rugged 1/4-zip fleece pullover that combines the aesthetic of wool with the easy care of polyester fleece. This Patagonia fleece has Raglan sleeves for comfort when wearing a pack making it the most awesome fleece outerwear that Patagonia offers. I received a notice from the FDA today regarding Lobster Poo. I was really worried about what people have been eating until I found out it's a candy produced in Maine. I'm still a little worried. I'll take Better Sweater over Lobster Poo any day.

"Inexpensive but warm and comfortable fleece"
I purchased a small thinking it would be the normal Patagonia sizing - a "regular fit" like this one would be roomy on me... It fit well enough, but was snug, and also shrank... so I would suggest you purchase a medium if you are my size. Some reviewers say this runs large, but I'm not sure how... I have a number of other Patagonia products and I believe this 1/4 zip runs small. For comparison, I have the normal "better sweater" which runs more true to size than this product.Overall, I like the 1/4 zip pullover (but, I'm a fan of pullovers...), the fleece is comfy and warm but does not block wind well. Arms run long-ish (but I don't mind).Note: I'm 5'11, ~155lbs. Broad shoulders. I am the awkward size in-between small and medium...
Great product overall. A bit hard to take the sweater off. The inside material grips to any clothes are worn. Keeps warm in freezing temperatures. Has been a godsend in the artic vortex we're been experiencing in the northeast. Doesn't block wind too well. Color seems to be true to the picture, I got the blue and can wear with almost anything.
I bought one of these a few months back and loved it so much that I now own three. Its warm and comfortable (it does run a little bit large). I wear it to work in the office and out hiking. One of the most useful layers I own!
I bought this as a gift for my husband. He loves it - the color goes with everything. It can be dressed-up with a collared shirt underneath or dressed-down with a t-shirt and jeans. It is super-warm - wind doesn't come through at all. I have ordered him the same sweater in two additional colors!
I got this sweater for Christmas and wear it all the time. It is very warm and fits great! The only thing to be careful of is the sizing. I normally wear a medium in Patagonia clothing but I had to exchange this one for a small.
I think the title of my review speaks for itself. I got one for Christmas last year and have worn it so much I just had to buy another one in another color. Super warm and form-fitting so it's great for layering. I really like the extra long zipper that makes it easy to get on and off, and the zippered breast pocket is perfect for a phone, headlamp, lighter, etc. Overall 9.5 out of 10 in my book. The only thing is that if you put it in the dryer the inside fleece gets all balled up, but I think that's the case for any fleece.
Bought this better sweater for my husband and for our son for christmas and they were both thrilled. The goldenrod color is absolutely beautiful and has a certain heather knit look that is very unique and looks great. It also is a great layer to be wearing to a Packer game. My son loved the wax red. This is a great sweater to wear as a jacket in fall and then around the house when the weather dips below zero, like it is today.
"great sweater but the processing time sucks"
I ordered this for my husband with two day shipping, but it has been two days and the order is still processing (not even out of the warehouse). If they advertise free 2day shipping, it should get to me in 2-3 days.
"This is the best casual garment Patagonia makes"
I collect one of these sweaters every year. I now have 3 because I can go weeks using one of these as my top layer. I enjoy the weave, the feel on the skin, and the fit of the sweater. The only negative thing I can say is that these sweaters do begin to peel (like all sweaters) after about a year of wear (for me). That being said, I wear each of them a lot during that year. Otherwise a terrific item.
I bought the Men's Better Sweater in size small for my girlfriend. She had tried on both the men's and women's and felt that the men's had a more comfortable fit. The sweater fits her well and she is not swimming in it by any means. She is about 5'4" and a small build. She wears it all the time at all different occasions whether it is on the couch, out hiking, or just shopping for the day. Enjoy!
