Bought this pack cause my old one ripped and I love it! Use it for everything, school, trips, backpacking, camps whatever. Spacious and durable and really spiffy looking too!
I ordered this back pack 6 months ago and this little guy has survived and thrived through all of my costa rican adventures, a Michigan winter, a drunken St. Patrick's day, countless flights and cross-country travels. If you're the person who is always breaking or spilling things, Chacabuco is the one... durable and dependable. Perfect for those traveling light, taking weekend trips, or students carrying heavy loads. This spacious pack has pocket game; thoughtfully organized, aesthetic appeal, and just the right amount of division where things don't get lost. AND our friends at Patagonia always keep you looking fresh.
"Nice Quality, Zipper Color is Different"

Right out of the bag, the quality is great. very nice stitching. Cool feature with the clip on the shock cord which will make it easier to use. I got the Channel Blue and on the picture it shows black or grey zippers. They are actually red. Bright red. I love the contrasting look, but if you think you're getting black you'll be wrong, at least in my case.
This pack is exactly what I wanted. It is not too large but it has sufficiently storage for all sorts of gear. I typically use it for school-related purposes, such as carrying books, computer, ipod, coffee, etc. I have used it outdoors a few times and it has performed very well. The material is very lightweight but also solid. One of my favorite aspects of this bag is the color - the green stands out so much and really looks distinctive. Buy it and you will love it.
I go to Boston College and use this backpack everyday for class. I can fit all of my books and notebooks, and never have to worry about the safety of my laptop as the pocket is raised off of the ground and highly protected. It protects its contents from rain and hard Boston winters, and keeps them dry. I have never even come close to running out of room with this pack, even as it serves as my primary travel bag for weekend trips home.
I got this to replace my old daypack and am very happy with it. It's nicely padded, very comfortable, the TWO top pockets are great for holding a cellphone, wallet, keys, etc and the side pockets are tall enough to securely hold water bottles. My only complaint is the zipper pulls are a little small, but you can attach larger ones to the zipper on the main compartment.
I bought this backpack knowing I loved Patagonia and knew it would be great for hauling all of my books and other goodies around campus! Thanks Patagonia again :)
I got this backpack about 2 years ago for school. It was big enough to hold all my huge binders for all my science courses, but it never felt bulky when it was fully packed. I also use this backpack for day trips, rock climbing, kayaking, fishing, and snowshoeing in the winter. I have never had a problem with things inside getting wet even during the heaviest down pour. I got the all black and for the amount of time it has been out in the the rain/sun it hasn't fadded much (if any) at all. God forbid anything happens to this pack, but if for some reason I need to get another backpack; I'll get another Patagonia Chacabuco for sure.
