Great color options, very durable and a reliable brand name. I use this back for school through the week and day hikes on the weekend. I have a 17 inch laptop and its difficult to find a pack that will work for t but this one fits the bill. My only complaint is the fact that there are no small zip pockets on the front for keys and such, not a deal breaker though. Love the fact that the front pocket is insulated and will keep the wet items from leaking through into the large compartment.

I needed a lap top bag for work, but I wanted something that would hold a few papers and my lunch. I also carry a nalgene with me. So the pro's are it holds my 15" laptop, can hold my lunch in a separate compartment from my laptop, my nalgene fits in the side pocket and I can fit my jacket on the outside when I don't need it anymore and strap it down. Cons are the shoulder straps are a bit narrow and stiff and the bottom could have used a bit of a heavier duty fabric...I am hard on my stuff. None of those are deal breakers and as is the bottom is tough. All in all it is a great bag and since it is Patagonia, it should be in for the long haul.
Bought this pack for my honeymoon - exploring Italy - and was definitely satisfied. It was big enough to stuff full of necessities for the long flight, and yet was not too big to tip me over while climbing the thousands of stairs throughout Rome. Great having two "cupholders" and I used the outer straps to secure my Moosejaw hoody. All in all, a comfortable pack with enough space for everything I needed it to hold. You can never go wrong with Patagonia products.
"Patagonia did it again, making me fall in love with another of there products."

This was purchased for an overall outdoor backpack. Its front pocket is perfect for any sort of shoes because its vent let air flow through. The remainder of the backpack is completely waterproof. I was on a kayaking trip this past week, this was the backpacks ultimate test, and it passed, with extra credit i might add. The two slots for water bottles is extremely helpful for long trips, the residue from a ice cold water bottle (unlike my other backpacks) did not leak through. My favorite part however ins the straps in the front. It has multiple different c;asps, insuring that through any adventure your backpack will remain on your back. Its overall an amazing pack, and i love it!
I haven't gotten the backpack yet, but what really convinced me to buy it was the video description on zappos.com. For all of the backpacks I checked out on their site, they had a video description, which was pretty much someone in a plaid shirt wearing the backpack and showing you all the compartments inside. They also sometimes say what type of material something is or point out something you may not have thought to look for. http://www.zappos.com/patagonia-atacama-pack-28l-forest-glen that should take you to the backpack page and you'll find a link for a video description under 'product information'. Hope that helps!
I just bought this pack to replace an old Kelty pack that looked like a bear at the zippers. The Atacama has a great main compartment with tons of space... except I wish there was another zipper pocket inside.. (not a big deal though). The straps on the back are great for strapping down climbing gear, but I use them mostly for lugging around a heavy bike lock. The side pockets are perfect for carrying a big water bottles and coffee mugs. I would have to say the coolest part is the waterproof compartment. It's super useful! Ingenious idea. The material on the inside of it is similar to a tarp... which means all your important school work will stay dry.
I really like the colors and the way this backpack looks, but the main compartment is a bit small. The pen/utility pockets are in the main compartment which makes it tough for fast access. It also has some random pocket which gets small items 'lost'. The front pocket is nice but not good for organization. I love the two side pockets where I can hold a bottle of water and coffee mug. the laptop pocket is nice. I love the front straps, it's perfect for holding my yoga mat! Overall is very stylish and trendy (I have the golden maple color), but not super practical.
