"Warm, thick, poor fit under a helmet, one-size-fits-most"
This fits me pretty well. It stays tight against your ears in the wind. My only gripe is that it's a little thick. I was hoping to wear this under a helmet. Unless your helmet is a little big for you already, this probably won't fit. Still, great hat for everything else, and the price was right.
"very warm but if you have a big noggin...."
This product is great...light, warm, and the ear flaps are pretty dang sweet. The black/blue pattern is cut and stitched to where the bottom section fits snuggly on the bottom back portion of your head. The only reason i did not rate this "Love It" is because the size L/XL is pretty tight on my noggin. I prefer a loose fit cap but my 7 5/8" normal fitted cap size fills this cap pretty dang snug...just thought i would throw that out there.
I am one those people that folks call an ice cube. When I am hiking, I can be perfectly comfortable but when I stop, I feel like I am freezing. I have slept in this hat for two trips where the nights were below freezing and fished out on Saddlebag Lake with the wind howling 35 mph around freezing temp. This is the best hat I have found to date to keep me warm. I also wore a neck gater, two base layers, a wind vest, wind jacket, gloves, etc. I bought the basic black, figuring it would go better with my different ensembles and I am styling in it, unless I take it off and people see what my hair really looks like.
