"This is a rock solid down jacket that will keep you warm without weighing you down."
I purchased the OR Transcendent Sweater (sweater? really?) to replace another great down jacket from different company I have had for three years (the zipper proved to be the weakness in this jacket--this part of the jacket gets more use than any other, so they really ought to provide zippers that last). Anyway, I have a lot of other OR gear (hats, gloves, gaiters), so after reading reviews of this jacket I made the purchase, hoping for a warm, light weight down layer to wear by itself on cold sunny days or under my shell when weather rolled in. The day it arrived it snowed for two straight days, dumped 15" of snow here in the foothills, and reached -20F with wind chill. I spend a lot of time outdoors and this jacket works beautifully as an insulating layer. Even in this weather, it kept me warm (almost too warm while snowshoeing). It's not bulky, and the zipper seems to be a bit sturdier than my other down jacket. Very happy with my purchase so far. One note: it is slim fit.
Super lightweight and keeps you toasty warm. I love the engineering so that the jacket stuff itself into its own pocket for a small compact storage or pillow option. I did a video product review of this jacket here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGoDZpjbZ4U
I own two of these stylish jackets. I wear them around town and often take them on backcountry-ski trips in lieu of a full-blown puffy. Even on cold days, I find they offer enough warmth--though in extreme cold or long trips, I may pack a bigger puffy instead.
This jacket is warm and comfortable, and for the price you can't really argue with much. It fits true to size, and is thin enough to fit under my shell without any compression. I have experienced a slight amount of feather bleeding, and the feathers do move around quite a bit inside due to the design of the baffles. I was able to move it back easily enough, but was a little annoying to have some cold spots at first where they were thin. The outer nylon feels a little thinner than I was expecting, but not too bad for a down jacket. The napoleon pocket on the chest is a nice touch that not many down jackets have.
"A jacket without goose down coming out...."
I have been wearing this sweater for three days, and temperature here is about -7 degree celcius, this sweater seems not as warm as commented by other buyers here...and I have to put another layer outside it.what makes me angry is that after three days' wearing, lots of goose down coming out from stitches all over the sweater.....
This jacket is great! At first I was a little concerned with the amount of down that was falling out, but after just a short while it stopped. Bottom line great jacket that will keep you warm in cold weather that is before us.
