"The best of the best... It's the Holy Grail of coats..."
OR said this coat is bomb proof... Well I don't care to find out if thats true or not... But dang if you can get an OR Mentor Coat you are going to be one happy camper, this is one bad ass coat, it real nice Gortex Pro baby...
I have taken this jacket on backpacking/hiking trips; ski trips to Crested Butte in February; and stood in a Texas downpour. The Mentor handled everything, no problem, no leaks, nothing. The Gore Tex Pro is very breathable and if you really want to, the pit zips down the side can help dump heat in a hurry. The Mentor jacket is a well-fitting jacket, so to fit a good mid layer or two underneath I sized up to a Large--works perfectly and I am about 5ft. 11in and weigh ~185 with an athletic build. This has been the best jacket I have had--I have had Marmot, Patagonia, and North Face...the Outdoor Research Mentor takes the cake. The material does feel light; and it is...but it is SOOO tough. I take plenty of falls when skiing, and the jacket doesn't show any wear at all. Get this jacket. You will remember the quality long after you have forgotten the price.
