"3 Days in the snow, zero wet socks." 04/13/10
Just got off the Mountaineers route on Whitney yesterday, and in coming down, I punched through a snow bridge over Lone Pine Creek. My foot went in the stream almost up to the top of my gaiter, and you can imagine the great feeling I got when my foot stayed as dry as when I had put the boots on in the moring. A product that does what it is designed for, you can't beat that.
"If you just wear everyday pants out hiking than get these" 10/22/09
if you don't want to get your pants all muddy or if you don't want a little rain or mud to hold you back. they alos stop the water from getting in your boot, basiclly a big boot extension. i reccomend.
"keeps shtuff dry, but don't be fording any creeks" 03/29/09
could fit a bit snugger around the bottom of the boot; it would make them that much better when fording a creek is your only option. Other than that, and perhaps a better clip at the top, these are a solid buy
"A gaiter for all activities" 02/22/08
Best gaiters I've ever used. The form fit at the bottom is top notch. I used them year round and have the best results of any other gaiter - alpine, trail, water it doesn't matter. Fit is very versatile for various boots/shoes.
"Sick gaiters" 06/29/07
If you have never used gaiters and you backpack at all you definitely need to grab these. They keep your feet as dry as possible in river crossings and protect your legs from brush-scrapes. This pair are great because they're built to last and the buckle across the bottom is definitely more sturdy and built to last longer than less expensive models. The last thing you want is for your gear to fail in the field.
"look good, but quality control lacking. I got a bad pair of these gaiters." 06/24/07
Gaitors look good, but never got to put them on before the hook that holds the gaiter to the front of the boot/shoe pulled out or the webbing. Poorly made. The rest of them looks fine. I am returning these for a refund. I have had others made by OR that were fine...not these.
