"After 40 year- my first internal frame" 05/05/13
I have been backpacking for 40 plus years, and this year I am going to get my winter gear pack under 50 lbs. This pack is well laid out with lots of room. Got everything in it or on it and I am now at 47 lbs. This is a great start, and I plan on cutting the weight even more. Don't be afraid of ordering a pack that doesn't work out. I order what I thought was just the right one, and I couldn't get my stuff in it. Moosejaw took it back with no problems and I now have the pack that will work for me.
"Awesome pack, worth the money" 01/13/13
I bought this for a 2 week backpacking trip through Europe. I tried some of the women's bags, but found that this one felt the best. Overall, I was able to pack a ton of clothes and necessary items in it and walk around with it on my back for hours at a time. Even when I was packing 30 pounds in the bag, it was still fairly comfortable. The support and suspension it has is great. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a bag around the 60-70l size.
"Great pack with lots of room to put stuff." 12/15/12
My only concern about this pack was size. I took a chance and it fit. I'm 6'1 190-ish and the Large fits great on my hips. It sheds water well, although I do plan on getting a pack cover. There are plenty of pockets and loops to put your gear. Also, the Oxide Red isn't nearly as bright as it looks in the picture. It's more of a Brick Red.
"Moosejaw is the best! Great customer support, fast shipping, and awesome deals." 12/09/12
This pack is great. Has tons of room for longer trips but also is good for shorter trips. Very comfortable even loaded down with weight. This pack will be getting a lot of use and it feels tough enough to handle it, and with the warrenty from Osprey you can't beat this pack.
"If you don't weigh your pack in grams this is for you" 11/27/12
Been backpacking for 10+ years with 4 different packs of consistent use (at least 5 trips) and this is my favorite pack. This is an overall great pack. Not too many bells and whistles but the right amount. The ventilation design is excellent for humid weather like 6 days on the Foothills Trail in South Carolina in mid-summer. Hands down the best ventilation for any internal frame designed pack I have seen. Love the mesh pockets on the hipbelt, I keep a snack or two on one side, and my knife on the other. Sure, I have carried lighter packs in my life (one was even 7 oz) , but i have not found another sub 4 pound 60+ Liter pack that is this comfortable, durable, and easy to use.
"Great pack but worried about it holding up" 11/07/12
I love the way that this pack carries. The suspension and the venting is absolutely fantastic. Its got great gear loops, pockets, water bottle holders and every other feature you could want. However, 4 days into a trip, I've already got a tear on the top pocket. I haven't abused the pack at all and I wasn't around many sharp edges. Its a bit disappointing that its ripped so quickly - but fortunately osprey has its lifetime repair policy.
"Super Versatile, Super Comfy Pack" 10/06/12
I love the durability and versatility of this pack. I have owned my pack for at least a couple of years now and the pack material still looks solid. The Atmos 65 has enough storage capacity for some serious Winter backpacking trips but can still reasonably manage and hold in place a 20 lbs. pack weight on Summer trips thanks to all the compression straps. I really like the Mesh back panel for comfort and for providing external storage for my hydration bladder. The side pocket along with the side compression straps keep my tent poles securely in place. The rear pocket is nice and stretchy and a great storage area for discarded outer layers on those long hot Winter hikes.
"Buy this pack!" 10/02/12
Seriously. You won't regret it. The suspension is phenomenal. One of the most comfortable packs I've worn and probably definitely the most comfortable, given the weight I had in it. It's not going to get you through an expedition, but it'll handle a long weekend or a week-long trip no problem. I used it for a quick solo over-night trip covering about 28 miles and climbing around 6000 feet and I had absolutely no complaints about the bag. My feet were another story. It comfortably held all of my crap and we had a great adventure. The pockets also made organizing really easy. So go ahead and pick your favorite color and hit "Add to Cart." You can thank me later.
"Best pack I have owned!" 09/14/12
While not the lightest weight pack ( I have tried GoLite, Granite Gear & others) I would not trade this pack for any of them. It is lightweight with great features including comfortable belt and shoulder straps. Easily adjusts on the fly. The 65 liters is perfect for a week in most conditions. Great external rear pockets for storing easy to get to items like rain gear. Belt pockets are handy. Brain is on small side but limits weight at top of pack so not top heavy. Design keeps pack off from back allowing for ventilation. Absolutely love it and it is now my go to pack for 2-7 days.
"By far the best pack I have ever used" 07/15/12
This pack get great props for cutting weight while not sacrificing comfort. I have found it size more than enough for almost all javascript:ProductReviewsForm.prepareSubmit(document.ProductReviewsForm)hikes less than a 7 days and it has preformed admirably well in all conditions. I love the hip pockets that make it easy to store snacks and small gear decreasing the number of times I have to take the pack off. The multiple pockets are a bonus and are great for organizing gear.
"Peer envy" 05/21/12
The trampoline back surface - a tightly woven mesh back panel that lifts the pack off your back by 1/4" to 1/2" is incredible! I'm Polish and Russian by heritage. That means I sweat. A lot. The trampoline back makes it much more comfortable to backpack. Transitioning to taking the pack off is now better in cooler climates: preventing that initial chill when back sweat starts evaporating! Sorry for the gross out - but it's truth. Also, the added distance between the pack and your back (because of the trampoline mesh) does NOT make the pack less stable - it does NOT feel like it is far off of your back - and does NOT feel heavier because of it. This pack is perfect through and through!!!!
