"Lightweight shell with great wind resistance" 02/01/13
I usually wear this as an outer layer while hiking when the conditions get a bit rough. The windstopper fabric truly blocks out any wind, helping to keep your core warm. The soft shell panels help give the jacket a more durable feel and some extra weather resistance. My only gripe is the jacket seems a bit short and rides up at times, otherwise the fit is great
"Great jacket, especially for the price" 11/15/12
Much like its vest counterpart, this jacket does its job and is quite warm. The fit is true to form and comfortable. Additionally, the fleece offers good wind protection. The only negative is that the pockets are a bit higher than normal jackets. They start at the bottom of the rib cage and it feels a tad awkward. Overall a great jacket.
"Great jacket for brisk days in the NW" 11/10/12
I love this jacket! It looks great, feels great and is warm. On cold days it provides good warmth and keeps the wind out. It gets warm quickly and the pit zips come in handy for venting. I like to crack the vents a little bit when it is mild outside. It does well on wet days too. The water beads up nicely. I would highly recommend this jacket. I am 6'2" and 210 and got the XL and it fits great. I can't layer tons under it but you don't really need to. A shirt and thin fleece would probably be the most you would want under it and you may overheat.
"Great Jacket" 11/05/12
I received my Mountain Tech jacket last week and wore it on a long mountain hike in Colorado Springs this weekend. The conditions were good, but big temperature variation. The jacket performed flawlessly. It breathed when I was hot, and it totally blocked the wind on the long cold hike down. I was able to regulate temperature a bit with the pit zips. Overall, I love the jacket. Comfortable, good fit and good looking. The quality of construction looks great as well. Two thumbs up !!
"Great Jacket, Great Price. Love it!" 11/01/12
I researched this jacket online and Moosejaw's price was great. It is a very comfortable, technical piece of clothing. For me, it fits true to size and has great handwarmer pockets, accessible with a backpack on. I love the pit zips for venting. I can't wait to test it in some wind. Highly functional and looks great. The quality of Mountain Hardwear is very evident
"Good Jacket" 05/08/12
I bought this when I weighed a bit more and it fit great (6 ft 190 lbs, bought a Large). I've since lost weight, and it's a bit wide on me now and feels slightly short. Odd consequence for losing weight, right?Performance wise, it works great. Keeps wind at bay and does a good job at keepings you warm. It's surprisingly thin, comfy, and looks stylish. Like I said before, the sizing can be a little odd, and it also attracts a lot of dog hair, but those are about the only cons. Good jacket.
"Best jacket made!" 03/08/12
You will definately need to order one size up on this jacket! My old mountain tech jacket (which is 4 years old) was ordered in a large so I thought a large would work in this style. Mountain hardware must have changed their sizing as the large was too tight so I had to exchange for XL. Otherwise, this is a great jacket and is perfect for fall and winter weather down south. Highly recommend and the styling is the best on the market.
"Great Jacket" 02/16/12
Normally wear North Face products, but Mountain Hardware is better quality. This jacket is great for fishing on the river where I live in Virginia. It blocks the wind and is surprisingly waterproof. I higly recommend this jacket.
"Fantastic Jacket for Outerwear" 01/12/12
This jacket is pretty terrific! The windproof and waterproof claims are as true as can be, even for being thin and with fleece. This jacket is very comfortable to wear around, even when running. I am an avid running who goes out at least five days a week and this jacket doesn't limit you at all when it comes to going out. It has zippers on the sides and slightly up the arms that allow for plenty of ventilation if you get too hot! Mind that I am in Michigan, so I truly know the cold and snow that comes around. So far, this jacket has been able to do everything. Yes, you will need an under-layer when it gets really cold, but this jacket is great for everything between 30 and fifty!
"look elsewhere" 12/10/11
bought this jacket and wore it for a bit, and hated it. fit felt sloppy, zippers felt cheap, and it was no warmer than an under armour cold gear shirt. i tried to like it, supplementing it with a fleece under it, an outer shell, and just couldn't find it to be worth while. Arc'Teryx Venta AR is a better bet
"Great outer layer" 09/21/11
This is a great outer layer especially on windy and rainy days but you're definitely going to want something warmer for when it really gets cold. I've taken it on multiple backcountry trips and it's definitely worth the space even though it's a little bulky. The only problem I've had is that campfire smoke sticks to it like no one's business. Overall definitely worth it, especially against the North Face or Patagonia comparables.
"Great outer layer" 09/21/11
I've had this for about two years and taken it on multiple camping trips. It's great for an outer layer on cold days or a jacket on moderate days and it's surprisingly waterproof. It also packs well into a pack, the one problem I've had with it is that campfire smoke really sticks to it. Other than that, great product.
