SPECIFICATIONS of the Marmot Women's PreCip Jacket
Everything you want in a rain jacket - lightweight, pit zips, waterproof, and an adjustable hood. I sized up for layering. Normally, I wear a small and instead I purchased a medium. I plan on taking this to summit the Sisters in Oregon and on backpacking trips through California. Packs easily and is lightweight.
Purchased this as a water and windproof barrier to layer over my 800 power fill down jacket to wear on the slopes the days that are too wet to wear the down jacket alone. Tested it this week on the mountain and it worked perfectly! Purchased one size up (large) and it fits well over my (medium) size layers underneath. Should also be the perfect jacket with or without layers during the rainy spring Vermont mud season.
This is the perfect rain shell for when the weather is less than stellar. I use this shell in the spring, summer and fall when it is drizzling and I stay perfectly dry. The hood folds into the collar for when you just want a jacket and no hood. This also does a descent job of breaking some wind chill (with layering underneath. It is easy to clean when dirty and only requires some maintenance. I recommend spraying it with a waterproofing solution every 6 months just to reinforce the water-resistant exterior. Perfect for camping/hiking because it folds up very small.
this is the perfect rain jacket, lightweight, soft material, but keeps you dry! I use it over a softshell insulated jacket to stay warm and dry in the winter. It is lightweight, breathable, and packable!
"Absolutely buy this jacket for April showers. Or any showers of any kind."
Great rain jacket, does exactly what it's supposed to do. It showed up in my mail box just before I had to trek across campus for class and so I donned my new purchase and entered to downpour. I stayed completely dry, and the little cinchy things in the hood allowed me to tighten it around my face so it didn't blow off. It is JUST a rain shell though, there's literally no insulation to it all so if that's what you want, this ain't it, bro. If you're looking for a layering piece that works in all seasons, looks hot, packs down to practically nothing, and is you know, FUNCTIONAL, buy this jacket.
"Stood up to the Amazon Jungle, will be great for anything!"
This is an absolute must-have if you're hiking, backpacking, camping, kayaking, anything! It's a perfect lightweight, breathable rainshell that will easily fit over other clothes in colder weather, but is also perfect on its own for warmer weather. I've had mine for about 3 years and it is still 100% waterproof. In addition, I spent 2 weeks in the Peruvian Amazon Jungle during the wet season (and yes it really does rain every day). This jacket was one of the most important things I brought with me! The fact that it's extremely lightweight and breathable made it ideal for the combination of hot temperatures, ungodly humidity, and constant rain. It is light enough and packs down small enough to stuff in my day pack with no issues when not needed. It also dries very quickly. My quick-dry pants took 3 days to completely dry with the insane humidity, this took a mere couple of hours.I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to stay dry!
