Bought this jacket to replace my very old Gore-tex, old faithful. The Speed Light is light weight, comfortable and very protective in heavy rain, snow storms and high winds. The pockets are very accessible with a backpack and well placed. The hood protects the head and face well and is adjustable for all situations. And I love the velcro on the sleeves. The zipper under the armpits lets you vent out some more moisture (sweat) while not compromising the rain/snow protection of the jacket. The Gore-Tex pro shell really lives up to my expectations and Marmot has made a jacket that is very much up to my expectations as an avid outdoors man in the challenging weather conditions of Iceland.
"I wear this when I want a confidence boost"
This is a very light weight jacket that fits well, but runs a little large for each size. I purchased a small and enjoy the extra arm and torso length, as I ride my bike in the rain. The hood has all of the awesome adjustments you would expect.
"Great jacket: A light, bomber, pure shell."
I have an earlier model of this jacket, and the latest improvements only make it better and lighter without compromising its core identity. This is a tough, light, Pure Shell jacket. This is for people who know how to layer, and don't want to carry redundant clothing on their climb or hike (or bar-hopping expedition) There is no insulation, no snow skirt, no lining. No unnecessary weight! Yet it still has full pit zips and the 3 Pockets in the right places to access while wearing a harness or backpack. And that fantastic Marmot hood. Perfect.
