The Marmot Men's PreCip Jacket is a waterproof hiking jacket for exploring new trails. The PreCip is coated with NanoPro, Marmot's most breathable waterproof coating. It keeps you dry from the elements without the icky garbage bag feeling on the inside. When you get too hot, pop open the pit zips for quick ventilation. The jacket packs into its own pocket when not in use, so no reason not to bring it along with you, just in case. The hood adjusts for fit as well as rolls into the collar to stay out of the way on mild days. When zipped all the way to your chin, tuck into the DriClime Lined Chin Guard for soft, non-chafing warmth.
Jacket is great for backpacking rain gear. It compresses into its own internal pocket which is a big plus. Velcro cuffs prevent water from entering thorough the opening of the sleeves. Hood provides enough room for a helmet. YKK waterproof zippers are solid. My main complaint is that this jacket is fairly form fitting, and does not offer many options for wearing heavy layers underneath.
I use this jacket fairly frequently in my daily commute as well as on wet outings in the mountains and it is still keeping me dry.The jacket is a solid choice without breaking the bank. It packs very well, is lightweight, looks nice (in orange anyways), and has been durable thus far. My (petty) complaints are that the velcro along the zipper could be better and a chest pocket would be useful. But if you are after a no-frills, durable rain jacket, the Marmot Precip will do just fine!
I bought this for my son for Boy Scout camping and Backpacking trips because I like the one I got for myself last year so much. It is great for wind and rain, it is light weight and packs small. It is also inexpensive relative to the competition. How can you beat that?
Got this for my dad for his bday last year and while he's by no-means an avid outdoorsman, he always rocks it in any whether that isn't snow and seems to love it. Must have good breath-ability cuz he's a big guy and it doesn't get him all sweaty and must be good rain protection bc he's stays dry
I love this jacket! It packs tightly and performs great in wet and windy weather. Lots of nice features such as Velcro cuffs, draw string waist and the hood hides away nicely into the collar. Highly recommended!
"Excellent compromise between weather resistance, weight and breathability and price"
This is a great all-round jacket. Its the one I go to most of the time. There's jackets that breathe better, ones that are more storm resistant, and ones that are lighter. But none that have all three qualities. If I'm going to the mountains late fall or winter, I take my heavier and very much more expensive jacket. If I'm going super light, I take my featherweight waterproof. But from spring to fall, whether day hiking or hut to hut trekking, this is the jacket that always makes it into my pack. Its heavy enough to give you some serious weather resistance, yet its really breathable and fairly lightweight. A really good compromise all round. There's plenty of length to keep you dry in the nether regions, room in the hood for a helmet, and I've had my harness both over and under it at various times without any problems. After some heavy use, the waterproof (inside) layer begins to wear thin and eventually rubs off completely in parts, so you just buy a new jacket - its not expensive.
I love this jacket! I have tons of jackets and this is one of my fav! it fits amazing! Comes in any color you could ever want! I have long arms and most jackets and little short and this is just right! very waterproof! just a warm fleece under it and it would be a very nice late fall jacket! Over all great jacket!
