"Great Jacket both functionally and aesthetically"
Multiple compliments on the look of the jacket but, that doesn't compare to the overall warmth, comfort and fit. I was skeptical about purchasing the jacket online before buying but glad I made the purchase. The fit was perfect and overall great qaulity. 2 thumbs up!!
Found this jacket searching for the 'Holy Grail of Softshells', and I'm pretty sure I found it. Something that could keep me warm for a good stretch of time in cool winter months and work in spring and fall overnights as well.I tried the Patagonia Alpine Guide first, and I'm sure that jacket works great for uber-aerobic activities or paired with multiple layers, but it was just too breathable and didn't offer much for additional warmth. I'm sure it has it's purpose, but just not what I was searching for.The Marmot Gravity jacket ticked all the boxes. Warm enough to stand alone in the cold without layering and bulletproof against the wind. This is a ruggedly built softshell that I am sure will last me for many seasons to come. Crazy impressed with Marmot's M1 material (on par with Gore Windstopper), and, in my opinion, the perfect all-purpose, three-season jacket. So, now that I've found the Holy Grail...off to find out, what is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow...
I have the blue one. Almost every time I wear it I get compliments. I am 6' and 190 lbs. The XL fits perfectly. I use this for spring snowboarding, and sometimes on colder days with a hoodie underneath. Very comfortable and stylish. Use it to hang out or for a technical jacket.
"A very nice softshell at a reasonable price"
My info...male, 6'0", 203 lbs, 34" waist, 46" chest, 34/35" sleeve.Also...very warm natured, I don't seem to feel the cold as much as other people. Quite the opposite, I sweat like a horse with a little exertion even in single digit temps. I don't need a lot of insulation. So, I thought a softshell would be worth a try. Thinner, lighter, more breathable than a hardshell Goretex jacket with insulation but still windproof and water resistant enough for skiing here in New England.I bought 2 of these gravity jackets (brick & black). Very pleased with the quality of the fabric, zippers, & stitching. The M1 softshell is very windproof. I got lucky with the cut. With my chest measurement at 46", I was right at the upper limit for a (L) and right at the lower limit for a (XL). Since I was going for less bulk and a more form fitting look, I went with the (L). It's perfect. I have room for a base layer and lightweight mid-layer.Great daily jacket too! Looks sharp!
"Bought it as a replacement for my Arcteryx and it rocks."
Been looking everywhere for a softshell that equals the attention to detail, finish and practicality of my Arcteryx Gamma SV. And at a more affordable pricepoint. Marmot's Gravity checks all the boxes. I was worried about the sizing and buying "sight unseen" online but I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I run about 220lb, 6' with wide shoulders and long arms. I find the fit well tailored (cuffs don't rise up to my elbows when I lift my arms and whether it's an illusion or not, the jacket cuts an enviable athletic silhouette---chicks dig that). But it does remain roomy enough to add a fleece or other heavy layer underneath. Bottom line? Marmot's Gravity is worth exploring.
"Not even close to being the "Apex" of softshells... it's better!"
Awesome softshell. Angelwing movement is killer- adding both comfort and flexibility to a great looking jacket. One of the best things about this jacket is that it can take a beating- you can throw it around, smash it into your pack, whatever, and it still comes out looking great. And for those with infants or soon-to-be dads, milk and spit-up cleans up in a jiffy. If you live on Earth, you can't live without Gravity...
I bought this for cross-country skiing and have been very happy with it. It is very thin and light, yet very warm and windproof. I wear this and a simple columbia fleece vest and am very comfy at 15F - I'm moving of course. It is very movable and seems to deal well with sweat. Also good for jogging in the fall. Overall, it's a great jacket. The outer shell is wind/water resistant, there is a thin fabric lining inside that keeps it warm and it's cut well so that it doesn't constrain my movements. It's definitely well worth the money.
Got this in red. It is extraordinarily comfortable. The fleece lining is very soft and fuzzy (which you'd hope would be the case) but also fairly breathable. The sleeve pocket has also been pretty useful for my cell or iPod. I'd definitely recommend this.
I bought this jacket for my boyfriend in the black color. He absolutely loves it! He is about 5'10" and 180 lbs and the large fits him well. This jacket looks great dressed up or worn casually. It's super warm and does a great job shielding against wind/light precipitation. He prefers to wear this jacket during the winter with a warm flannel shirt or long sleeve shirt instead of a giant winter jacket.FYI: I've had the female version of this jacket for about 4 years and love it! It still looks brand!
