"Versatile, comfy and warm. Everything I was looking for"
When my Columbia jacket I've had for a few years bit the dust in an unfortunate washing machine accident, I needed to find a jacket in a hurry. I wanted a 3-in-1 for versatility. Love Marmot style and quality, which brought me to the Gorge. So far it has fit the bill perfectly in this frigid winter. Two days after receiving this jacket we lost power in our house for 4 days; I've pretty much lived in this jacket since I've received it. Chopping wood was no problem; the cut of the jacket is perfect for active people without being bulky/baggy or restrictive. Big plus. Waterproof, wind proof and insanely warm. I'm hard on my stuff, but I'm not concerned with this jacket as the quality is top notch. Outer shell seems tough and durable but time will tell in a few seasons of use. Can't wait to take it hiking as well. So far I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you Marmot and Moosejaw! This was my first Moosejaw purchase and it won't be my last.
I bought this in December just in time for the Arctic Vortex that hit the Midwest. At home in Indiana, the windchill reached -41F. Bundling up in the Gorge Component Jacket with just a sweatshirt underneath and a scarf, I was completely unaffected by the cold and wind for the 10 minutes I was outside. Since then I have been absolutely satisfied with it, both in terms of warmth and the features that go with it: The liner is quite warm by itself as well, and the shell is completely waterproof; I'm also pleased with the amount of pockets, the adjustable hood, and the warm pocket liners. I go to college on the North Shore of Massachusetts and have to walk about a half mile to school everyday. I have never been cold while wearing it. I definitely recommend Marmot and this jacket in particular. For those of you interested in sizing: I'm 5'11" and 160lbs and the Medium fits perfectly.
"Longer and a little bigger than expected, but very warm and comfy."
Simply a parka without any fur. If you need a weatherproof jacket this is definitely a good option, because the inside jacket is very warm that if you remove it then you just have a raincoat. I like this jacket because of that versatility.
Just got my Marmot Gorge Jacket and I'm definitely impressed. The make of the jacket is great, you can tell there isn't any moisture you don't want getting in this thing. Arm pit zips are a superb addition to this jacket because you will get toasty pretty quick. The thermal layer jacket is actually a lot more stylish than most layer jackets on the market, so you can pop that layer out and wear it alone without missing a beat. I wish there were more fasteners in the arm holes that connect the thermal layer to the shell. But other than that, this will be a jacket that gets some great use. Already gotten several compliments on it. Highly recommended.
