"very warm and windproof" 01/28/12
im 5'7'' 155 lbs order large fit was great in torso with 41''chest but really long in the arms so i had to send it back would of tryed a medium but were sold out in blue had a feeling it would of been small in the chest great quality liked the feel of material really liked the full zips wish there were stores that stocked stuff from mammut and montane they seem to have dope products really geared towards alpine climbing
"Yes, I would recommend this to a friend" 01/28/12
Bought this for my bf because he's a hardcore climbing junkie who enjoys quality/light weight products on his adventures. During his trip to Aconcagua, he decided not to pack anything with a hood because he thought it would unnecessary weight to his pack. However, he realized the err of his ways and was looking for the perfect hoodie to take on his next trip. He was highly impressed with the quality, amount of pockets/zippers, and weightless feel of the fabric. It fits like a glove. Also, I now have the title of best gf in the world!
"Great styling and function!" 11/08/11
I wear the medium and I am 5'9" 160 lbs with broad shoulders. I would call it the perfect fit for allowing a thin downy or fleece without feeling bulky or looking overblown when worn with only a t shirt. The Ultimate is very light, so do not look to it for insulation below the 50s if not in the middle of aerobic activity. The hood fits very well WITHOUT a helmet, so keep that in mind. The material can prone to snags, so I reserve more abrasive activities like climbing and thorn-bush-wacking for my Super Hero.
"Great mid-layer, but not really "ultimate"." 11/04/11
Performs great under a shell when the wind is blowing snow or rain. Love the thumb loops even if they are only useful for keeping sleeves in place while pulling a shell over top.The large has a nice trim fit on me (6'2" 200lbs). Seems sturdy and durable. Maybe in time I will find a reason why the pit zips extend to the hip, but IMO the zips could be 6" shorter and still vent as well. I was bummed to find no drawcord at the hem as shown on Moosejaw's product page. A drawcord seems like a key feature for a wind pro layer to me and I considered returning it, but since I got a good price from Moosejaw, I'll keep it as a midlayer when it's windy/cold/damp OR an outer layer if it's windy/mild/dry.
"Truly the Ultimate Softshell Hoody" 10/15/11
I've finally found the perfect combination of best-in-class technical functionality and a cool looking jacket that I can wear around town. Probably the best part of this jacket is how much you can adjust the degree of warmth and coverage to conditions. Both the pit zips and front zip have two way zippers so you can open up the bottom near your waist if desired. In addition, the Hood fits perfectly, although not built for a helmet, and I'm personally a huge fan of the thumb holes. The windstopper fabric does its job adequately (yes, it's truly windproof) and the DWR finish is comparable to similar products from competitors. I'm 5'8", 140 lbs and the small fits well.
"Does its job perfectly" 10/08/11
Positive: Very lightweight Windstopper jacket with all the sweet features you would want (thumb loops, adjustable hood, pit-zip to the hip, etc). I can fit one of my light down insulated jacket under it no problem.Negative: Zipper is on the opposite side than the North American jackets, also, can feel a little tight under the pits when stretched though I have a slightly larger chest for my size.Size: Medium, 5'9.5", athletic 165.
