These bags are awesome. Borrowed a friends last time hiking and decided to buy one for myself. I went with the 4L and it will suit my needs fine. Depending upon how much water you need, or think you need, you may want to go larger or smaller. As others have said, these bags are tough. You can hang it from anything, or just stuff it in your pack and don't have to worry about it leaking all over the place.
"Best for transport but not for water hydration"
I got the 10L hoping to use it as a hydration kit (I bought the hose system as well). The bag itself is incredible and I'm really happy with the purchase.. I ease of mind alone of knowing you can have 10L of boiling or cold water with you at any time is great. Though since the 10L is so big... you are forced to put it inside your backpack as opposed to an outside hydration pocket. For some reason my spigot came loose inside my pack and it drenched 6L down to the sleeping bag :(. Like i said though, would highly recommend for transport alone!
"The best water carrier I have ever owned"
I own the 10L dromedary in black with the spigot valve. This bag is extremely durable the material is very strong all the sides are heat sealed to hold water. The shape hangs perfect from a limb or? I started out with those ungodly collapsible plastic bottles years ago but this carrier holds fresh water perfectly and it's design and color will let you use it as a shower if you put it in the sun. Anytime I can use gear for multiple purposes and eliminate something from my bag it's a plus and when it's as sturdy as this bag and works this well I bought two.
I had a platypus bag as well, but after purchasing this one. I threw platypus to the trash. This one is 100x tougher than the old one. Dromedary can store boiled water and keep you warm during cold nights on a 5000m mountain. Worth every penny.
"Perfect Solution for use with a MSR Miniworks Water Filter"
I have the MSR Miniworks water filter, and while it works perfect when filtering into a Nalgene, let's face it that there is only so much room in a Nalgene bottle. In comes the dromedary bag, the perfect companion to anyone with such a water filter, allowing the simple screw connection and allows you to filter away without the worry about loosing a single drop of precious water. Not only that, but the standard dromedary bag is well built and can stand to daily camp use. I love my dromedary's and plan to extend my collection as time goes on!
I use this bag for everything. It is great for group cooking, doing the dishes, showers, and storing extra clean water— I clean when I get bored. I love that I can pour boiling water right into the bag. This is great if I boil more water than I need. This is also useful for winter camping. The durability of the Dromedary Bag is worth the extra weight over the DromLite. This bag is durable enough to break ice if it forms in the bag. This is a great feature if you do a lot of winter camping.
6L's a good size. Holds enough water for 2 from dusk till dawn for all uses: hydration, cooking, clean up, everything. Plus, you can fill it with boiling water and keep it in your sleeping bag if winter backpacking. It'll keep you warm and be a pillow!Last but not least, 3 pour options only add to the versatility.
