When I first got into hiking, I made the mistake of buying non-adjustable trekking poles (Black Diamond Ultra Distance). Since then I've realized the benefits of an adjustable pole, which led me buying these Leki poles. I compared these to REI and Black Diamond adjustable poles and these just felt the best in my hands. One thing I was concerned with was the weight difference but these are really light for being aluminum and I almost can't tell the difference. I prefer lever lock adjustments to a twist lock because I have a bit of carpel tunnel. So far they're holding up well and I feel safe putting all my weight on them, something I felt iffy about with the BD Ultra Distance poles. I can't wait to try out the snowflake baskets.
