After using the Kelty Grand Mesa 2 Footprint for a week long backpacking trip through the High Sierras, I was surprised how well it functions as a moisture barrier. We camped in several wet areas, and the footprint kept my tent dry (and juncture-free) the entire trip. At around 8oz, this moderately light product is totally desiring of a place in your pack, even for those longer trips. I gave the product a four out of five, due in part that the straps that connect to your tent poles are not adjustable, and would wish Kelty could improve this in the future to be better fitting for those challenging tent sites. Enjoy your climb!
"Fits well, stays secure and keeps your tent dry"
This footprint is slightly smaller than the floor of the tent. This serves to keep water from getting between these two layers. The metal rings do a good job of keeping the footpring aligned with the tent and the stake loops make sure it stays secure. If it weren't for this, I would probably have holes in the floor of my tent. Don't leave home without it!
