"Warmth without weight" 05/21/12

Winters in my area are usually wet, cold & windy--a really bad mix for fleece and other synthetics. The Mogul takes care of 2 1/2 of the above (the 1/2 exception being heavy wind, when you'll feel the cold air in your ears). It's got a great form fit, so it fits under a hood (see previous issue with wind). It also packs small to stash in a backpack or pocket. Until it gets REALLY cold & I break out the heavy alpaca wool hat, this is my go-to for warmth. (Note: I haven't washed it yet, since merino = antimicrobial. My sympathies to the previous reviewers who mentioned winter shrinkage. *ahem*)

"This is the one" 03/23/12

This has been my every day hat this winter. It's thin enough to wear a hard hat over yet warm enough to wear down to nights in the teens as long as the wind isn't howling too bad. It covers my ears and head well but I have a smallish head. I'd reccomend it to anyone and if I lost it I'd get another one.

"Nice looking hat but not the best design." 01/02/12

Based on the overwhelming positive reviews of this hat I really wanted to like it a lot and wanted it to work, but there are a couple of things that prevent this hat from coming out on top. Firstly the double layer construction is a good concept for warmth, but if you sweat in it, it takes twice as long to completely dry as would a single layer hat. Secondly, even though I followed the laundering instructions precisely as described, the outer merino fabric shrunk slightly more than the inner, creating annoying puckering on the inside of the hat. It's now a bit difficult to get it to lay completely flat, which will create comfort problems when worn under a helmet. Go with Patagonia Cap 4 EW.

great product! super thin but really warm beanie. will fit well under a helmet this winter and easy to stuff into a coat pocket when not needed. wish it came in more colors....

"Comfortable, warm, venting!" 01/22/11

Big props to Moosejaw for contacting me that black was out and allowed me to replace it with bone and gave me another additional 5% off and express shipping! The bone is actually very light grey with light blue inner layer. I think it's great so it doesn't get dirty quickly from inside. Wore it in -8C around town with comfort. Not wind proof but quite wind resistant and long enough to cover my ears fully!

"Doesn't make your hair all staticy" 12/16/10

I've got a huge head, literally 7-3/4" fitted, this hat fits great with enough side to cover my ears. Possibly my favorite winter hat at this point if you don't count my bomber. Moosejaw once again with the incredible prices and fast shipping..

"AMAZINGLY WARM, I LOOK HOT WEARING IT, IT SHIPPED MEGA FAST!" 02/17/10

LOVE THIS HAT :D!! It looks amazing, no conehead thing going on like other hats, MEGA WARM, tight fit, quality and it will NOT break down and I have washed it 5 times!MooseJaw ROCKS! I ordered it Wednesday using cheap shipping it got here OVERNIGHT for same price?! WOW!!I am so impressed I might just streaking - that MIGHT not be true ;)

"Wow! Comfy, warm, more stylish than the picture, what more could you ask for?" 12/12/08

This is a great hat! It doesn't have the mushroom look like the picture. It pulls over the head and fits close and comfortably. I have a 7 1/4 inch head and Medium fit perfectly. I've been out it 20 degrees with snow and wind and my head and ears were toasty!
