The Flex Plate Long For G10/G12/G14/Air Tech Crampon Add-On by Grivel. The crampons with either Classic or New Classic bindings now have a new flexible regulation bar for improved fit and performance on walking boots: flexible and elastic it allows the foot free movement without over-forcing or stressing the bar even over extended use. The flex regulation bars are made of multi-ply stainless steel and work just like a car's suspension springs. Note: the Flex Regulation Bars can be used on all of Grivel's crampons. SOLD IN PAIRS.

"Awesome FOR FLEXIBLE-SOLED BOOTS" 01/02/13

When buying extensions, you have a choice of the standard or "flex" bars. Here's the flex's deal: The bar acts like a leaf spring and allows the toe/heel of your boot to move in relation to one another. Normal bar = zero flex. The flex bars allow the sole of your boot to flex while walking, and the normal bars do not allow this.BUT, many serious boot soles DO NOT FLEX AT ALL, REGARDLESS OF EXTENSION BAR. So adding flex bars to soles that do not flex WILL NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. On a flexible boot, using G12 crampons with the flex bar allows for a more comfortable day. My dogs are definitely barking less at the end of the day when I'm using the flex bars, metaphorically-speaking.
