"Great pack for the money" 05/23/13
This pack is a great weekend pack. The air vents really nice and the pockets are well thought out. Honestly the only problem i have with this pack is the chest strap. Maybe i just got too small a size but i doubt it. Its too high up for me and isnt adjustable. Definitely not a deal breaker for me though.
"Great Comfortable Pack but on the small side" 01/04/13
I purchased this pack to replace my aging cheap one from boy scout days based on good user reviews. The description says that it is great for light 3 day trips and that is very accurate. Unless you are going ultralight don't expect more than two nights/three days out of this 55L pack. You really don't want and can't do more than 40lbs in this pack. I have to use a large bear keg where I backpack and there is no good place to fit it in this pack. The keg is so wide that it makes the outside pocket useless. It is the most comfortable pack I have ever used though and the build quality is excellent. The pack does exactly what it says it will.
"Great Pack!!" 12/27/12
I have had this pack for about a year and have taken it on trips ranging from weekends to 4-5 night excursions with no problems yet. I love the Air-Stream venting as it has kept my back cool (as you can in 90 deg weather) and also the suspension system (30 lbs+ comfortably). My wish for it is that they would have put more lashing loops on it as I like to have places to tie gear onto (you have to wash and dry your underwear after a few days right?) Overall, I recommend this pack to anyone looking for something for a weekend trek to a week long minimalist
"Simple L pack w/ enough strong bone!" 10/01/12
Even lighter than the other Gregory's expedition packs, it has enough comfortable backbone to wear and hike around. The 55L capacity fits with my 2-3 days tent-hiking stuffs, and also the side zipper access is useful to get my tent out from the bottom. A great balance, a good buy!
"Compact, well organized, reliable pack. I like it!" 08/17/12
I used to carry Osprey Either 70 for weekend trip in Japan. But it is too bulky and rather overspec in warmer seasons. This pack is really good looking, easy handling and durable enough for my outdoor use. I like its shape, and love its outer pocket and the gap to the pack body best. It is very convenient to stuff items, like rain gears, fishing tackles, etc. To use bottom straps creates enough space for other bulky items. In Japan, compactness is very important. We often use trains in approaching fields, and big packs always make other passengers mad by hitting them. Anyway, I am totally satisfied with Z55!

"my favorite pack" 05/11/11
Just got this pack last year, and wow! what an incredible pack. 55 liters is the perfect size for an overnight, or weekend trip. i have done 4 nights in this pack comfortably. the jetstream LTS is a very comfortable suspension system, and keeps my back from getting too sweaty. there are a lot of straps, which can get kind of confusing, but helps you keep your load tight and secure. I have used a ton of packs, but this is the most comfortable and well thought out design I can think of. the jade 55 is the womens version, and is the same great pack in a women's geometry
"bought this pack b/c it had a good review in backpacker, easy to adjust, comfy for the whole trip" 05/02/11
I purchased this pack for weekend/week backpacking with my wife. She has the jade50 by gregory and loves it so we thought we would give this one a try. As it is my first backpacking weekend bag I don't have a ton of experience but once I got the buckles figured out this thing was convienient and easy to use. Had it for about a year now and the bag shows almost no wear and tear and the belt and venting is very comfortable for a long day's hike.
"Gregory done good!" 03/21/11
I searched for 6 months to find the perfect pack. The Gregory z55 was a great looking pack with very kind reviews, so I ordered one from moosejaw.com. A few days later it was on my back loaded with a 30lb log chain. The weight distribution of this pack is the most amazing feature of the z55. The lower lumbar pad and waist belt comfortably transfers the load to my hips. This pack hugs my back and stays put out on the trail. It quickly swallowed my 30* synthetic sleeping bag, 2 person tent, cooking pot, coffee press, food, and clothing and was still hungry for all of my smaller items. Gregory done good! -Adam
"Even fits my bear can comfortably!" 11/09/10
I have used this pack for 3-season+ treks across the Olympic National Park, Rainier, etc, up to 7 days at a time, for 3 years now. I hike solo most of the time, and this pack fits everything I need, including a big bear can, comfortably. The mesh system keeps your back well ventilated, and the belt and chest straps adjust for a very comfortable fit even under 30+lbs. The kangaroo pocket can really hold a lot, and the little pockets on the waist belt are great for gloves, maps, compass, etc.My only beef with this pack is the lack of a convenient placement for an easily accessible water bottle, but I make do.
