"Great bowl, but a bit large when packing" 09/11/12
This is a really nice bowl made out of some strong plastic. It definitely lets you grab a lot of food at mealtimes and the cover is great because you can save food for later (clutch) as well as toss a tiny bit of water in there, shake it up, and get it almost perfectly clean. However, the downside of having a bowl which holds a lot of food is that it takes up a lot of room in your pack. Also, I am always a little afraid that the handle is going to break off (it has a tiny bit of flex and I often jam it into pretty tight spaces). However, so far I haven't had any problems and it has been pretty indestructible. Overall a good mug, but make sure you are prepared for it to be on the large side.
"My Everything Mug!" 04/17/12
I had one and I had to turn around a year later and buy three more for my wife and kids! I uses it to store my stuff in my pack and then when I get to camp I use it to make dinner, I use it for coffee, I use it for breakfast . . .use name it! It has become my everything mug! And by the way, it makes for really large portions!
"This "mug" is huge. and awesome." 09/29/11
28 fl oz...this thing is four cups of "fair share". I love it, it's perfect when backpacking to carry food on the way up and bringing home leftovers. (like there ever is any). I used mine as more of a container/bowl, less of a mug. But If you need four cups of coffee to start your day, well, this mug will be your best friend. :) very durable and dishwasher safe. I'd highly recommend it.
"THE Solution for light weight alpine ascents." 05/17/11
When struggling up those high altitude peaks, weight is the KEY issue as far as gear. The Fairshare mug is the go to solution for limiting cookware and cooking times. All you need is one pot for boiling water, and the fair share mug to cook your couscous or Ramen for the evening meal. No extra pots or pans, just the bare minimum to help you make the summit. Go big and go light, just don't leave the Fairshare behind!
"Love at first portion" 12/22/10
I LOVE this mug! It's an all in one backpacking food vessel! It's a bowl, it's a mug, it's a left-overs (however rare that is!) container, it's anything you can imagine it being!! I used mine exclusively since I bought it since it's just so versatile having a screw on lid and all.Highly recommended!! Don't know why I used anything before it...
"This thing is huge!" 12/07/10
Talk about "fair share"! This mug (or as I like to think of it, a bowl) will give you space for well more than your fair share. Let's just hope that your hungry stomach can hold all the food! What is really cool though, is that my Sea-to-Summit Insul-Mug fits perfectly inside this mug with the cover on, so packability is awesome too! I just wish that the handle felt a little sturdier (it is a little flexible, but not really a problem). Since the top opening is so large, it is super easy to clean as well. Anyone doing any sort of mountaineering should have this mug!
"Great... if you don't mung your dishes." 05/17/10
I was stoked on the idea of this mug after seeing a coworker get huge portions last summer when all I had was my squishy Guyot Designs bowl, but after using it for the first time on a 3 week sea-kayaking trip, I have to say that I'm really not impressed. Within the first day the lid, some different plastic than the cup, had warped from being cleaned in boiling water, making it impossible to close. Also, while the volume may sound sick to get your share, it's a pain to pack. I'd recommend regular Tupperware over this bad boy any day.
"Does Anything!" 03/20/10
This mug can be used for just about anything! It is real light and can be used to store breakables in it when you're hiking. It also is graduated so it can be used as a measuring cup, and when you need to store some leftovers, it can do that too!
