First things first-I have never seen such a nice packing job in all my years shopping online. At first I thought I must have accidentally ordered a kids jacket since it was in a smaller box than I was expecting. When I opened the package I was surprised to find a nicely packed jacket using every square inch of the box! Efficient and cost saving I'm sure. The jacket seems to be a nice quality and it fit me just right. This jacket should hold up well to our WIsconsin winter. (I'm hoping we don't break the record for days below zero again, but if so I feel well prepared)
I've got another Fjallraven jacket I like and was expecting the fit to be similar, but this thing is massive. I'm 6'2" and a medium fits like a starter jacket—I think the arms are wider than my pant legs. The picture had me believing this coat would be somewhat more, er... fitted. Probably a good jacket for working in the cold outdoors; I could see chopping firewood in this thing, but for a warm jacket around town it's about as flattering as a (really cool) sleeping bag.
This is a real nice jacket, it is not the warmest jacket so definitely would layer up in real cold weather. It also runs big as others have mentioned. Usually wear a L in other brands (5'9" 180lbs athletic build) but L in this brand was too big, M fits fine.
The first day his fall when the temp dropped below 40 degrees I pulled out my North Face winter jacket and headed to work. As I walked into the office past endless cubicles I began to notice that everyone had a North Face jacket hanging up. I felt like I had the club jacket for an enterprise I hadn't signed up for. Being a life- long happy North Face customer I had a tough decision to make: accept that the cubicle job in an office building has stripped me of my identity and that I am like everybody else, or, breakout and find a new brand. I spent days researching worthy replacements for my gear that had been so good to me. (Two seasons patrolling the Wasatch, sea kayaking, rock climbing, etc my NF gear never did me wrong) I started hearing really good things about Fjallraven so I focused on their reviews and their quality. Everything added up.I took a leap and bought this coat and will never look back. I am warm, dry, stylish, wind chill free, have plenty of storage, and I cant rip.
this jacket is huge! I am a fairly petite girl (5'2" 100lb) and I ordered the XS. I usually add a bit of room to fit sweaters. I just received this jacket in the mail and was so excited. I put it on and I looked like a line backer. The arms are very rummy and the shoulder seams ( how I usually tell if something fits well, the shoulder seams should be in line with your armpit) were half almost a quarter way down. On some good notes, the jacket was well made! The inside fleece is very soft and dense. I could not find any loose threads. The texture of the outer fabric might confuse some people. It does feel slightly waxy due to the wax they infuse in the garment, but that is totally normal and a good thing. Quick Summary: order 1 to 2 sizes down
