"Down jacket that notches fashion higher than function....."
I'm a huge fan of Fjällräven, have been since I came across it backpacking in Scandinavia. I work for the USFS throughout the High Rockies, so I am outside camping A LOT. I have a few different down jackets, all with different purposes. I purchased the Fjallraven No. 16 because I wanted a down jacket with a durable outer so I could use it in some tougher circumstances. That said, Down Jacket No. 16 has a pretty solid outer shell made of G-1000 Eco, I would feel comfortable putting this into most situations, I would also wax the shit out of it so it can handle a little more. The big bummer with this jacket is that it really just isn't that warm. It just doesn't hold on to as much warmth as you would expect. With a thick wool sweater underneath at 13 F I was getting a little cooler than I should have. Also, the hood is really deep, which seems like a great idea, can funnel wind, snow, and ice right into your face. Love Fjallraven. Good Down Jacket. Fashion Over Function.
