"Nice coat, if you have arms like an orangutang"
The arms on this coat are long. I mean, LONG. I'm six feet tall. I bought a size large, which fits fine around the girth. But the arms are so long that only the very tips of my longest fingers stick out. I don't get it. Maybe Swedes can't afford gloves.
"This is a great parka that is not overly bulky but will keep you warm for most purposes."
This is a great parka. I tried a couple of other products such as the North Face McHaven and the Craghoppers Mayman and I liked the Fjallraven much better. It has a very tough outer material that is extremely wind and water proof. The hood is very warm and although the fur is a bit larger than I normally would like, when there is blowing snow and cold wind I'm happy it's there. There are a number of pockets on both the inside and outside of this parka and all outer pockets are fleece-lined, which makes them very warm. Also, and because I had to look this up as well, this has a much tougher outer material than the Fjallraven Yupik, so this will handle the bad weather much better. The only potential downside is that if it were to get really cold (below 0) then you may want to wear a layer underneath, such as a fleece or light down jacket, although that's to be expected. One last note, this parka runs large. I am 5'10" 160lbs and I had to get a Small, so be warned.
"Durable top of the line winter parka thats does everything Fjallraven says it will, expensive!"
The Fjallraven Barents Parka is another top of the line product that anyone who buys Fjallraven has come to expect. This parka is made to taking a beating and last winter after winter if not your entire life time and you will look stylish while rocking it. So hands down this is a top notch parka that will absolutely meet your winter needs be aware it is long and as a man that stands at 6,1" it comes down to my mid thigh which I like because it will keep my ass warm. A large fits me perfectly and I have a 42" chest and a arm length netween 33" to 34" but anyone under 6' with similar measurements as me may find it to be on the long side for them. I will end by saying this jacket is very expensive but the quality is absolutely there and I would hands down buy the barents over a similar northface parka or even a similar Patagonia parka not that either company has anything that similar. Also this is not a technical jacket for climbing or skiing but it can be used for every other winter a
