"Good shoes for beginners!" 05/12/13
This was my first pair of climbing shoes and I've had them for about six months and climbed in them over 50 times. They're holding up great! The sole is still sticky and they haven't stretched.Pros: Comfortable (for climbing shoes) Inexpensive Durable Velcro is extremely convenient Cons: Smell (but that shouldn't really matter) Not too technical Overall great shoes for the price and great for beginners. Also, I wear a 7.5-8 in street shoes and found a 7 to fit perfectly.
"Curls the big toe on both feet" 04/06/13
My wife said these were about a half size too small. I tried the men's version and found the same so we tried a half size larger in the local store and the rest of the shoe fit good but it forced our big toe to curl under it wasn't comfy.
"GET THESE ONES" 03/01/13
Regardless of experience level, I'd bet these are the best shoe for your lady friend! Tried a demo at a conference and was very pleased with the versatility. Very dynamic, would be great in any environment but I bet these would be super successful on a sandstone more slippery environment.I'm a little biased and think that the purple is chic, and the velcro is handy handy, doesn't "unzip" like the last pair of climbing shoes I had!LOVE THESE.
"best beginner shoe out there" 01/04/13
i've gone through 3 pairs of these and will continue to have a pair on hand as back up. all climbing shoes should hurt the first couple times you wear them but these stretch relatively fast. wear them in the shower to quicken the process. i eventually get a new pair not because they break but ultimately they stretch TOO much. can start to stink, just rinse with baking soda and water. well worth the cash especially for beginners.
"Good, but SOO SMELLY" 10/22/12
These shoes do everything I need them to in technical terms. They grip, they stick, they're awesome to climb in, but THEY STINK! I've never, ever, ever had stinky shoes before, but no one wants to come within ten feet of these babies. I've washed them, I stuff them with dryer sheets... it hasn't made a big difference. There is something about the fabric that lets the stink fester. So, moral of the story is, awesome for climbing, terrible for being within breathing range of.
"you need to buy these shoes" 10/08/12
I've had these shoes for over 3 years and they are my favorites! I have had my current pair resoled twice already, and I still think they are awesome. They don't have a super stiff sole, so they aren't as technical as other shoes out there, but you can wear them all day no problem (if you're interested in multi-pitch) and they'll still treat you well on harder single pitch. They are great for smearing and cracks, they grip will, but are OK on edges. One thing I prefer about these over a more aggressive pair is that these have great sensitivity in the toe. In my other shoes, I find I have a harder time finding the small toe holds.
"Great starters" 09/19/12
This shoes were good to start climbing in. Make sure you tighten the velcro all the way, and they will fit great. I've only begun to start climbing regularly recently and am planning on buying a more aggressive shoe, but these are still treating me well after a year. They are still in good shape and the color is great.
"Awesome shoes to start climbing!" 05/19/12
After renting for a few weeks at my local gym, I finally buckled down and bought my own gear ... I wish I had done so after my first climb! I ordered my street size and I'm wishing I had gone up half a size, since these didn't really stretch at all. Fortunately, the velcro makes the tightness bearable, and I can easily take my shoes off when I'm belaying. I think my toes are also starting to get used to the fit. Other reviews complained about the smell, so I'm fairly conscious about making sure I wear fresh socks and haven't had any problems yet!
"Smell terrible!" 04/17/12
These shoes are a good deal price-wise, but the savings aren't worth it in the end. I used them a few times a week in a climbing gym, and after a month or so I was losing all my climbing buddies to the horrific odors they were producing. I honestly don't know if I have every smelled anything so foul in my life. And it wasn't just my funky foot smells, either - the same thing happened to all my friends who bought the same shoe. Also, the heel was a bit loose. But they were cheap, were decent for all-around performance, and easy to slip on and off, for whatever that is worth.
"SOOO much better than rentals. A great first climbing shoe!!" 03/17/12
They fit true to size and are easy to get in and out of! They're synthetic so they don't stretch too much and it doesn't take very long to break in. A great all around climbing shoe. I would definitely recommend these for anyone who is getting their first pair of climbing shoes. Remember, they're supposed to feel really snug, almost like they're too small and you should go the next size up. You're feet will feel a little smushed but that gives your toes more power when you're climbing because you're not sliding around inside your shoe.
