I took this pack on a week long excursion and was very impressed. The hip belt was very accommodating and the straps were extra padded which is nice for a long trek. The front entry pocket was definitely helpful if you didn't want to unpack the entire bag. I am an organization freak and this pack is perfect for me. The sleeping bag compartment was a must and is fantastic, especially if you have an ultra lite bag. The adjustable top lid also came in handy for keeping an extra layer or rain jacket. I did end up using the rain cover and it kept everything nice and dry. I love the air contact because of the extra padding and also keeping your back cool while hiking. A nice product by Deuter and would recommend this pack.
I used a Deuter ACT lite on a 50mi BP we did last year & when the internal frame gave out halfway through, I was sad but able to complete the trip. So when it came time to replace, I looked for Deuter again because it really did fit my sway back better than others I tried.I chose this one because of the front access zipper. Many times on the 50 it was frustrating to disconnect the top, flop it over, undo the inside & crawl down inside (I've been at this 3yrs so I do know how to pack). I was thrilled for our first BP of the year last weekend. The back panel fit beautifully & the hip pads are fine. Shoulder straps are thick w/strong padding & were comfortable all around including the dual height load lifters. The fabric is heavy duty & should last years. I only wish the hip belt pocket was larger, more forward, & the zipper reversed. Also, I wish there was two. I swear it could a few less clips.I'll be adding a mesh pocket to the front for quick stuff items too.
