I got Voyager to supplement my BD orbit. Both are designed to be hung and Voyager is much brighter and almost as compact. It does ok as table lantern, and excels when hung about 6-7 feet off the ground (and both lantern and "flashlight" lights are on). One set of AA is enough for a weekend hike. My old BD orbit has taken tons of abuse, this one looks like it will alright.
"Versatile lamp, perfect for setting "the mood.""

The Voyager lantern is a fantastic piece of gear. It's no barebones ultralight flashlight, with four AAs, but it is compact and bright. Variable modes allow for a tabletop lantern, a focused beam, or a combo of the two. A dimmer adjusts brightness to the perfect level, setting the mood for some tent-bound romance. The lantern LED has a range of 75-10 lumens (13-100 hrs). Sturdy rubber feet keep it upright when in lantern mode. Hooks on top attach to the ceiling of my tent, and the flashlight mode projects a beam for reading or cards. Overall impression: compact, luminous, well-designed and stylish. Bright enough for car camping, small enough for the backcountry.
