"Best all around crampon." 12/18/12

This crampon is the best for steep snow and alpine ice. I have literally done side by side comparisons with the cyborg and this crampon is better for steep snow/alpine ice, and almost the same on vertical water ice. The only time you are missing out here is if you like to climb mixed and prefer a monopoint.

"Doesn't get any easier" 12/29/10

Recommended by a friend who, in the meantime, lent me a pair of old circa 1980s leather strap crampons. Yeah, OK anything is better than old leather straps, safety reasons an obvious point. But I finally sprung for these and they work great. They take less than a minute to put on. I don't do technical climbing so these may be a little overkill but on the ice flats and steep trails they worked perfect. They're beefy and sturdy on my Scarpa Invernos. The antibott plates kept the snow from packing in which was awesome since my old leather pair required constant clearing which is a %*@#% PAIN.

"nice quality and sturdy, wish it works better with gloves" 12/03/10

I used it for vertical ice climbing in upper michigan this year and they worked out great. One thing you may pay attention to is the device in the rear that you close to lock onto your boost, don't get your finger in the way, otherwise the sudden impact...ouch. It's not that easy to adjust with gloves on, so you'd make sure the screw adjustment is in right position before going out into the cold weather.

"Buy these!" 10/30/10

Much better underfoot points (12 of them) than any other crampon design, especially sport 'pons, so not only does it climb snow well, it excels at French technique or any other situation where one is not strictly front pointing. The shape of the front and rear rails is really one of the best features.Great antibots combined with that slippery stainless make it very good for avoiding balling underfoot. I was surprised at how compact these are when packed up and the safety straps secure these well when carried. One gripe was the steel toe strap on the step in binding, but that went first. And yes they look pretty slick!

"Good expedition crampon" 08/19/10

This is the crampon to get for a trip where you might get a little of everything. Yes, there are better vertical ice crampons. Yes, there are lighter aluminum crampons. But these fill the versatility spot. Also, BD has beefed up the heel piece that suffered from a pretty significant design flaw in older models and of course made it lighter. Do note that if you have a large foot or will be wearing overboots, you'll likely need the longer center bar.

"BD Sabretooth Pros w/ Sportiva Nepals" 04/20/10

Prior to using the BD Sabretooth Pros I had been using Grivel G10's. Although the BD are noticeably heavier, switching from Chromoly to stainless steel construction is nice. One distinct feature is the adjustable front and rear bails, by adjusting them you can lengthen the front points, where as the G10 bails are fixed in one position. Adjustable bails front and rear allow you to really fit your crampons to your boots. In addition to the custom fit, the BD's include the AB plates.The center bars are stout, straps are top notch, and the rear clips are bomb proof. Spend the extra cash for a great all condition crampon.

"Overkill Crampons" 01/31/10

Ever doubt if your crampon is up to the task of ice climbing, walking on rock, climbing on rock, or jaunting across a glacier? Owning a pair of these suckers will buy you peace of mind; from CA to CO to AK, or to Patagonia, the Alps, and the Himalayas, they can do it all. Upgraded from a pair of BDEL Contact strap-ons, and this year's stainless steel model is actually lighter by eight friggin' ounces. If you're unsure whether or not your boots will fit the pro clip version (needs more toe welt), just buy the strap-on version. That way you can also wear overboots without much problems.
