The Big Gun Harness by Black Diamond is loaded with features to make your long days laboring in the vertical more comfortable and efficient. Organization of monster nailing racks is A1-simple on the Big Gun's seven color-coded gear loops. Two belay loops (color coded, as well) ensure simple, separate connections with daisies or a belay device, and the haul loop is rated to 12 kN. The bullhorn-shaped waistbelt (five inches wide in the crucial-to-comfort lumbar region) is constructed with ultra-luxurious thermoformed dual-density foam, and the leg loops are fully adjustable and removable-a must-have for fine-tuning fit over layers, scoring some solid zzz's on the portaledge or using the big-wall lavatory. The Big Gun comes with a holster (and two holster slots) to stow your hammer when you're not slinging iron.

I'm a larger guy (255 lbs) and wanted a harness that doesn't feel like a thong. This thing is cozy! You can carry about as much on it as you'd want to, and it doesn't feel bulky. It feels safe and reliable, allowing some confidence in those dicier moments. My only gripe is that is does not have a speed adjust buckle on the waist.
The Big Gun definately feels that way compared to my Arcteryx S220 LT, but hey thats life when you're developing routes. This harness is well worth the extra weight and bulk if you plan to be hanging around for a while scrubbing, bolting or even shooting photos, rig up a seat and you've got something coming close to nirvana. Six gear loops and a full strength haul loop mean you can almost strap on so much gear that you can't get off the ground. It's a bit stiff out of the box, but loosens up well and is really just a dream to hang around in.
I bought this harness in preparation to start trad and big wall climbing, but I've only used it for sport leading so far. I love the extra gear loops, and when I'm working on project routes flailing hard, I'm happy I have such a comfy harness. I'd highly recommend it to anyone!
This harness would be considered great if they put speed buckles on it. It is a bit heavy but very very comfortable. After using a harness with speed buckles for so long it is a bit frustrating to have to adjust the waist belt to get a snug fit but the pros outweigh the cons. As a beginning trad leader I love the dual belay loops and lots of gear loops.
I've been getting into aid climbing more and more these days. I finally went out and bought the Big Gun. Why oh why didn't I do this earlier. On those long hanging belays you feel like you're sitting in a lounge chair compared to my regular harness.Every aid climber needs one of these in their kit.
I got my harness a few days back, so of course I went and jumped off a rock as soon as I could. I love wearing this harness even after 5 hours in it I couldn't even tell I was wearing it. And props on the shipping time, I got my harness in like 3 days
The harness is as comfortable as they come. Don’t get turned away by the size of the waist belt, it is uber-cushy and yet it doesn’t inhibit my climbing at all. If you end up hang-dogging on a new project, you will be glad that you strapped into the Big Gun. There are enough gear loops to carry just about anything you want to take up the wall with you. The dual belay loops give you options, and I haven’t felt like the waist belt is all that difficult to tighten. The first time I wore this harness, it felt really stiff. It only took a day of wear to loosen up and get the great feel it has now. The bottom line…. Buy this harness if you are looking for a comfy harness with options.

Extremely useful on long routes. Actually it's the most comfortable harness I've ever used. But it worth to make automatic buckles like Beal or Petzl harnesses have.
