I have had this device for a few months and have put it to the test, from my findings I have decided that it is a great ATC, and is a really good intermediate device between the regular "bucket" and the new guide. I would recommend this to anyone who would like a step up from their plain ATC because it is a bit smoother in rappels. Good luck and happy climbing!

Got this a couple of weeks ago and have been enjoying using it at the gym. The colors are pretty rad and the device is light but still very sturdy. My only warning is that it can be difficult to belay smoothly with it using thicker ropes.
The on the atc are great for top rope belaying but I found it more in the way than anything for lead. Haven't used it to rappel yet. Helps for belaying people heavier than yourself.
Bought this awhile ago for me and my girlfriend to use at the gym. She's tiny, and loves having the high friction side when she's belaying me. Makes me feel pretty damn good when I'm near the top of the wall too.
This atc is quick to set up, un-complicated, and the extra teeth help when I belay down from a top rope anchor. The no-teeth side is buttery when I belay from the base. Its versatile and basic.
This product works just like it is suppose to, it gives me no issues at all and it even has an awesome orange color. I love that the teeth on this that grab the rope to help hold a climber when belaying, or when rappelling it makes it much easier to control the descent. I am willing to put this ATC in a life holding situation of both me and my friends. I would highly recommend this product to everyone.
Last time I bought an ATC, there was just the original. It served me very well for many years. After using the XP, I am certain it will do just as well. The material is slick and solid, managing rope effortlessly. Though I thought the negative space in the metal was a gimmick, it offers a noticeable difference in the weight. It's extremely light. Also, those colors are straight up sexy! Great buy.
I have used this style atc several times now and love it. I feel that it is much more reliable then the traditional atc. I recommend this prodcut to everyone.
Standard belay device, does its job and does it well.If you intend to do more then just sport climb do yourself a favor and buy the ATC Guide, It will make your life so much better.
I use to have the BD ATC and then I got this one for my wife. I ended up getting a new one too cause it really helps having that extra bite on the rope while you are belaying, it makes it way easier to control with less strength. Definitely a good purchase.
