It's not going to replace your mattress at home, but it does remove any rocks or twigs from poking you in the back while you sleep, and it does add a little layer of cushioning which allows me to get a comfort night of sleep. If I have my air matress, which I usually do I still like to put this overtop.

Yes, you can BE the one in camp who wakes up refreshed after a good nights sleep. You can enjoy your coffee and breakfast and actually be ready to go while all the young folks are wimpering about 4 hours of tossing and turning. Maybe they should have listened when I tried to tell them about how good sleep is important? I added this product to my already nice BA insulated Air Core 2.5 mattress as a sale item afterthought, and I have since let my friends lie down on it for a couple minutes just to see what they're missing out on. I generally use it on float trips and for car camping, but would wear the same clothes 2-3x if it means taking the extra weight backpacking. Love it, 'nuf said.
First let me say I got this on a crazy sale. Not so sure I would pay full retail. The main reason I bought this was to protect my NeoAir investment x2 (wife wants to be comfortable too). Also been helpful in adding a little more warmth and comfort. Rolls up nicely for me, but I could see how a self-inflating pad would be a bit more bulky. My wife loves it so much that we take hers with even on backpacking trips. I usually only use mine car camping or crashing at family member's home. Looking forward to using with my new Big Agnes sleeping bag.
"Very comfortable and excellent for older campers!"

I've been looking around for something like this for quite some time. As an older camper it's become increasingly difficult for me to sleep on just a pad without something underneath it. The Big Agnes increases my comfort level IN A BIG WAY!! It's well worth the trouble of toting yet another item along for the trip and I can't imagine camping without it.
We ordered the Big Agnes King Solomon double sleeping bag with two regular pads one memory foam kit by accident. (Caution: be careful of internet shopping while drinking wine late at night, as mathematical errors can happen). Anyway, through this happenstance, we got to test the difference of the foam pad/no foam pad. While the air pads are great by themselves, the air pad with the foam is better. For car campers like us, where weight/bulk of lugging is not an issue, this was a great add to our camping gear and is less bulking than hauling a full size air mattress for the tent.
In the past, the greatest roadblock to getting my wife outdoors was a restless night of poor sleep. I bought her a sleeping giant and BA air core and she hasn't looked back. She says she sleeps just as well on this as she does in our own bed. Due to her rave reviews I bought the same setup and I agree that it's perfect sleep combination for car camping. Highly recommended for family/car campers who highly value restful sleep!
I purchased this product to add additional R-value and comfort to my Therm-a-rest RidgeRest Deluxe. The first thing I noticed is that the "memory foam" is somewhat low density, nothing like my TempurPedic mattress at home. It seems more like plain foam rubber. It does, however, improve the comfort level of my RidgeRest considerably. My biggest gripe is that the strap, attached to the cover, is not long enough to clasp with my RidgeRest (closed cell) inside the cover. Nevertheless, I am pleased with this pad upgrade purchase and would recommend it to anyone, except "lightweight" backpackers as the 3 lbs 6 oz weight is substantial.
Pros: This is a great addition to any pad if you want to add a little more comfort. Works fine with Thermarest and Exped. This is made so you can zip your pad inside (up to 3" thick) or you can just lay it on top. (This is what I do and it doesn't slip around). Cons: Heavy and bulky. If your packing this is staying home!
