"Kept me warm hiking in over 10K elevation, and I freeze easily." 05/12/13
I layered this jacket with a merino wool tee, and a fleece, and it has kept me warm on many occasions. It blocks the wind perfectly. We were hiking in the mountains in NM in late october, and Rocky Mountain National Park in late november. The hood can be adjusted which was great, so I could make it fit snug around my head since I did not need a helmet hiking. My husband basically chose it for me, and he call himself a "gearhead". I love it.
"Fantastic for everyday to skiing the slopes" 02/14/13
Just bought this jacket in a local store (they were sold out of the size/color combo I wanted online) and it is fantastic! I have used it a couple times in the rain just walking around campus. The fit and cut are perfect, I do wish the pockets were a little lower but its not a deal breaker. Based on friends that have this jacket they love it as a shell for spring skiing and I plan on testing it out for that later in the year. All around a great jacket, even at the high price, try to snag one while its on-sale!
"The best jacket I have ever owned!" 01/15/13
I LOVE this jacket! Not only is it functional, warm, breathable, light and waterproof, but it looks great as well! I get compliments on this coat all the time! I got the Blackberry and it is a perfect color of purple! I have been holding out on buying an Arcteryx coat because they are so pricey but I wish I had bought one sooner. This coat is worth every penny! I got the Medium and I am 5"6" 145 pounds with an athletic build and it fits perfectly.
"perfect!!" 10/17/12
I'm sure you will want to test it prior to doing this though to see if it fits in your outdoor system, Purchased at a brick & mortar retailer so I had the opportunity to try it on and inspect the seams prior to purchasing.I'm not sure this coat is worth full retail price, but if you find it on sale and you need a decent nylon-shell coat, give this one a good look.
"This jacket is the best waterproof coat on the market." 01/04/12
Keep wearing your helmet! The hood on this jacket works extremely well. You can adjust the fit of the hood very easily with one hand. The two side pull and the back pull hood adjusters provide a perfect fit. The rain just slides right off the jacket even after numerous washings and two years of use. One day, after 8 hours of working all day in a deluge of rain on the mountain, I noticed the front zipper area leaked through near the neck. However, the jacket held up better than all the other bomb-proof, rain-proof jackets other people were wearing. I wear this jacket around town, too. It's a one quiver conquer coat! You will love it.
"Great waterproof hard shell" 12/19/11
This shell will 100% keep you dry while out in wet weather. The only reason I did not give it "5 stars" is because it could be a little longer in length. I have been wearing a Patagonia fleece vest beneath it for extra warmth, and from time to time the bottom of the fleece will peak out beneath the coat. I plan on wearing it skiing this winter, with my Arc'teryx Atom coat has a soft shell/base layer for warmth. As the coat does keep you dry, it hasn't proved to keep me extremely warm in windy conditions. I am 5'2", 100lbs and ordered an XS.
"Bomber waterproof shell. Great for everything from epic winter adventures to shoveling the driveway!" 11/29/11
This shell is ridiculously waterproof and has decent breathability- though the pit zips are crucial for high output and aerobic activity like skinning up slopes. The high pockets take a bit of time to get used to but they are great when wearing a harness since you still have easy access to them. It is super light so I never feel bad throwing it in my pack. The hood design is a little funky and can seem too big when not wearing a helmet but after messing with it a bit I've got it working pretty well for me. Great all around shell!
