I bought this jacket for spring in Colorado mountains and it is perfect. The fit is excellent, and I personally like the tighter fit this jacket has at the wrists. I love the feel of the outer material and the insulation is a bit fluffy and very light. I have worn it around town comfortably in temps down to 30 degrees F, and have worn it skiing in spring conditions. This has become my spring go- to jacket this spring.
I just got this jacket for my Nordic skiing adventures and have been very impressed so far. It is light and flexible, so very easy to move in as well as being incredibly breathable. It will also keep you comfortably warm on any weather. I have also been hiking in this jacket and recently toured warm-weather New Orleans in it. I was surprised at how adaptable it was to a variety of weather. It rained a few days on my trip and I was so happy to find out that water beads up and rolls right off!! Incredible! If you do a variety of outdoor sports, I seriously recommend this jacket. I'm even going to use it down hill skiing. Buy it!!!!
I wanted a jacket that wasn't goose down and this was the jacket that I ended up purchasing. I have worn it in the cold winter months here in AR, I took it to Spain, and on an extensive climbing trip in Oregon. Despite it's light weight, it is incredibly warm. It moves really well, whether you're hiking or even going up a route. The hood provides nice protection from the wind. You can wear this jacket as an outer layer or underneath your hard shell and it works perfectly. I'd recommend this jacket to anyone sort of adventurer.
Quite warm. Not too puffy or oversized. The cuffs are the best, stretchy fabric around the cuffs are comfortable without bunching and very comfort, I love this detail. I like the stretchy fabric on the sides for fit and breath-ability. The Arcteryx fabric choices are always fabulous.
I look forward to the fall and winter solely so I can wear this jacket. It is the most comfortable, warm, and attractive jacket that I have ever owned. I took it last summer on a backpacking trip on the AT - and because of the chilly weather I was constantly wearing this. It kept me warm and comfy in some very uncomfortable situations. Basically, you can never go wrong with any arcteryx jacket, especially this one. I love it!!
Loved this jacket a lot & thought the price was super reasonable for the quality and product. Unfortunately I returned it, very reluctantly though. It was just too short for my torso and with hopes of wearing it in snow sports I didn't want to risk it. I'm 5'7- 120lbs and other than the length ( which is a me thing, not the jacket) it fit well everywhere else. The arms were especially nice-- long enough and perfect amount of fit & tightness in the cuff. Will be on the search for something similar.
Very pleased with this - this was my first intro to Arcteryx and i had never spent that much on a little jacket before - and it was worth every penny. I use the jacket horseback riding and it keeps me warm as either an outer layer or a mid layer all year long. zipping and unzipping makes dramatic changes (great on trail - don't need to be taking things off and putting them on). hood fits nicely over my helmet.
"Much warmer than you'd expect given the light weight"
I use the jacket for horseback riding and am amazed how warm it keeps me both in the barn and on horseback. The hood goes over the helmet nicely and zipping the jacket up/down changed how warm it is. exceeded espectations.
I wear this jacket for my bike commute from about 30-50*F in pretty rough winds. With the side vents, it is a good combination of breathable and wind-resistant. I'll wear it without a rain shell in snow, sleet, and light rain but not any kind of downpour. The best feature for bikers, by far, is that the hood fits *underneath* a bike or skate helmet. That helps *so* much with warmth in winter wind. If you can find this on sale, that's great, but I would not have minded paying full price for this!
I purchased this coat while I was studying a semester abroad in Europe. I was traveling almost every weekend, to London, the Swiss Alps, etc. and needed a way to stay warm that would fit in a regular daypack (pretty much all we got to bring on our RyanAir flights). I was also living in Granada, Spain at the base of the Sierra Nevadas, so it got really cold, especially at night. This coat gave me everything I needed - super packable, stylish, very warm, and water resistant. I honestly love everything about it. I'm 5'9 and thin, and the small and medium fit me, but I went medium to have room to layer.
Love this coat. It is light like a fleece but so much more warmth and the movement is great in it. The coat is fairly wind resistant and keeps the rain away in a light rain. Pop it under a shell and it adds a large amount of warmth without the bulk. Vents nicely too because of the fleece like material on the side panels. Didn't give it a "love it" just because there seemed to be a huge difference in sizing between the M and L.
