The Men's Venta AR Jacket by Arcteryx is a windproof, breathable, lightly insulated jacket perfect for skiing or hiking on cold days. This soft shell jacket provides excellent wind protection with increased breathability. If the forecasted dry conditions become fictional, whether it be rain or snow, the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish helps bead water from the fabrics surface making this an excellent quick-drying, snow-shedding garment. As you find yourself in an unprotected part of the mountain and your body temperature drops, bundle by inching up the full front zip, designed with a windflap for extra protection, tighten the adjustable hem drawcord and stuff your hands in the two pockets. Tiny GORE seam tape is used for reinforced insulation in weaker areas, and everything must be strong, strong like bull!

"My favorite overall jacket" 12/26/12
I wear this jacket everyday on my 30 min walk to work. I live in Germany and the temps during the winter are typically between -5 and 10 degrees Celsius. The fabric is windproof, warm and breathable. I tend to get quite warm when active, but when the conditions are cold I find this jacket breathes well enough to keep me comfortable. The DWR beads water on the surface of the jacket and doesnt let it soak in. I also carry a messenger bag, but after 3-4 months of daily use I do not see any signs of abrasion on the fabric in the shoulder area. The fabric just feels solid and ready to take on anything. It also has zipper pockets. The jacket also fits me perfectly, I am 6' around 190lb.
"This jacket flippin' rocks" 12/14/12
This jacket definitely sets the bar for blocking wind and fitting perfectly. I'm 5'11" and 200#, so I've got a decent beer gut and this thing fits well. The windblock on it is amazing. I ride my bike often. My latest ride was in Chicago, on a day where it was 35 degrees, and windy. About 10 minutes into my ride, I had to unzip the jacket because I was sweating so much. This thing really does block the wind. The only part of me that was cold was my face and my gloved hands. The wind couldn't even make it through the jacket. Freakin' awesome.
"Arc'teryx Venta AR" 08/02/12
I love this jacket with a passion, I really have used it for almost anything that i can think of: ice climbing, rock climbing, mixed climbing, hiking, and walking around. See, I like being happy and this jacket allows for that very thing. Once you get to know this jacket (its limits, when it over heats, etc...) it’s like a leather hiking boot in how it just gets better. The pockets are out of the way, so I can always a harness or backpack. The fabric has some spandex in it compared to the insider fabric, but has the same amount of fleece. This allows for more durability, and in my opinion, comfort. I gave it 4 stars because it was not extremely great just really great.
"Think cast-iron skillet!" 03/10/11
This is perhaps the most versatile jacket I own. Layer up and you can deal with all but the coldest temps; the jacket over a light tee is perfect for a cool summer evening. Also, packs into a small space and will fit into a book bag or day pack. The athletic cut actually makes me look good! Great shape but not confining and does not restrict movement. And it weights almost nothing.

"I bought both the Venta AR and the Gamma AR and ended up keeping the Venta. Here is why:" 01/19/11
Venta: great outer shell. More wind/waterproof. More relaxed fit for layers underneath (can standalone in mild temps but is only lightly insulated). Keeps the snow/wind out all day and looks great! Wish it had the 3rd chest pocket like the GammaGamma: great layer (ANATOMICAL/WAIST LENGTH fit, stretchy, slightly thicker but less wind/waterproof= less bulky, more breathable layer but less ideal outer. IMO it kind of looks like a motorcycle jacket It just depends what your needs are (water/windproof outer shell, stand alone or with layers underneath vs form fit, breathable inner layer with the ability to be a water resistant outer if needed with greater ROM for activities like climbing)
"Balls deep in awesomeness" 01/17/11
This is awesome. High quality stitching and fabric. Very trim/athletic fit. Great, soft, comfy fleece interior - moves like a second skin...if your skin were fleece. Awesome against the wind. Arms are perfect length (6'3, 195, athletic build - size large); front hits just below belt-line. Warm on most days though if it's below 40F or so, you'll need something heavy underneath it. If there's one gripe to make, it's that the arm cuffs are a bit too snug when taking it off. The jacket goes on fine, and wears fine, but when taking it off, I have to let the arms go inside out, otw I feel like I'll rip the seams @ the cuffs.Highly recommend.
"Fantastic Jacket - Athletic Cut" 12/17/10
The Venta AR is my new favorite all-around winter jacket. From skiing to bar hopping, it does it all. For a windstopper jacket, it's dang near waterproof (short of a few hours in a heavy downpour). The only thing to note is that it is cut more like an Arc'Teryx Fleece. If you prefer a little more waist coverage on the slopes, you might look at the Venta SV - which has an added hood.Great jacket for any condition above 0 F I'd say - given proper layering of course. 6'1" / 170lb / Athletic Build and the Medium fits perfect over a Fleece and Base Layer.
"great choice when the temperature is cold" 11/11/10
The Arc'teryx Venta AR Jacket is a great choice when the temperature is cold and the air is dry. This windproof, alpine jacket combines three different types of Gore Windstopper® fabrics to maximize provide core warmth, shoulder and forearm abrasion resistant,
"A solid jacket if you don't mind paying the price" 10/13/10
I'm 6'1" and 175 pounds. The medium fits perfect over a shirt or light baselayer. If I wanted anything more than that I'd have to size up to large. It blocks the wind great and the DWR is awesome (so far, only had it for a couple weeks) but there is very little insulation. Overall it seems to be a nice (though expensive) jacket, but we'll see how it holds up to the winter temps coming up.
"Worth the money!" 01/31/10
I almost never pay full retail for stuff. I am so glad I made an exception for this jacket. Totally keeps the wind out, is light, tough outside, soft inside, very well put together. If I could only have one jacket, it would be this one! Arcteryx rocks!
