The Arcteryx Men's Thorium AR Hoody utilizes two kinds of insulation to give you the warmth you need where you need it, when you need it. Coreloft synthetic insulation is placed in moisture-prone areas along the hem, collar, sleeves, underarms and hood, while 750 fill goose down keeps your core and arms nice and toasty. The Thorium AR can keep you warm on its own or can be layered under a shell to help fight off the nastiest cold. Imagine if turtles had a mid-layer like this to wear under their shells. IMAGINE IT! Turtles would probably be scuttling all around Everest. There's probably a better way to describe how a turtle moves than "scuttle".

ARC'TERYX ATHLETIC FIT: The Arc'teryx Athletic Fit garments are considered their "standard" fit and feature complex patterns that utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion and eliminate any excess bulk. Athletic fit styles are trimmer than Arc'teryx relaxed fit styles, but still offer room for a base layer, a light fleece mid-layer, and a synthetic or down filled mid-layer. Put simply, their Athletic Fit should fit true to size, but be sure to check out the size guide to learn how to calculate your body measurements before selecting a size.

Bought this one for my husbands birthday for skiing, although we never got the chance to go.... It deemed AWESOME in the frigid Chicago winters! It really is windproof, not overly puffy and does a fine job of keeping you warm. Its also waterproof which is nice for slushy snow and you don't feel over heated. Its a really light jacket and doesn't feel like it weighs you down. Very satisfied with this company and their products! Would def recommend to someone! One "con" thing is the neck is a bit long for people like me who have small necks and it covers my face up to my nose. It just looks a bit large in that area, but overall fit is great!
"Incredible, uncompromising warmth in a small, portable package"
This past winter was my first winter in the Northeast. I'm from Florida and was genuinely afraid of the weather. I used this jacket as a mid layer or outer layer almost every day and I can honestly say I was never cold. The hood rises to just below the nose and does a nice job of sealing wind. On days where there's precipitation, as long as I'm only walking to class, water/sleet/snow bead off and the jacket is never soaking wet. Can't imagine what I'd do without this jacket. The price is steep but entirely justified.
"Great fit, lightweight, and, most important, warm"
Got this in atlantis green and love the color. It's a bluish-green and the zipper pulls have a nice, subtle contrast. I'm 5'10", 155 lbs and the medium fits great. I was worried about the hood since the thorium doesn't have adjustable pulls, but it fits nice and snug when fully zipped. I have a thorium ar jacket (no hood) in size small and wish i got a medium since i like the extra 1-2 inches in length if going up a size. The sleeves are not short or obnoxiously long (I'm a 33" sleeve length for dress shirts). The body is a bit baggier in a medium compared to a small, but I can probably fit a sweater, shirt, and undershirt underneath the medium and not feel compressed while I would go without the extra layer in my size small. This thing is warm (sometimes I wish down jackets had pit zips), and keeps the wind out too. Haven't worn it in any rain, so can't comment on the DWR coating. I'm definitely glad I have both the hoody and jacket version.
Great jacket! Super lightweight, when I first put it on I didn't think a jacket this light would keep me as warm as it did. It was 34F outside and I has the jacket unzipped because it was so warm! Great jacket! Another flawless product from Arc'teryx!
"Warm, Durable, Stylish: Everything you want in a down jacket"
I am 5'8" 175, 40s suit and I wear a small in every Arcteryx Jacket I have ever tried and this one fits as expected. My initial impression is that this jacket is almost too warm. I had my car window cracked on the way to work at 5am and 25 degrees to keep from over heating. The fit is very nice. The small is fitted in the torso, sleeves extending to the top of my knuckles, and bottom just past my waist. I have yet to get the jacket into the great outdoors but I suspect it will perform to the high standards of all arcteryx gear. I am very happy with this jacket.
Was hesitant at first, but we'll worth it. Was not freezing standing and waiting to get I to the concert. Everyone was not wearing coats, because they did not want to hold them. Mine tucked into the small pouch and hooked to my belt. Has happy.
"Almost perfect, just wish I had known this"
It's light weight, water repellent, and warm. The goose down is still super compressible and really light weight. This is going to be my new go to jacket to stay warm on all of my trips outdoors this winter! If you want this in a very fitted/are wearing this as a base layer get this in what you regularly wear. If you want to use this as an outer layer I recommend buying 1 size up, especially if you want to layer underneath.
'v been wearing this jacket in temps below 40 all week and its perfect. I plan to use it climbing and I can already tell that with its snug fit, mobility, and light weightedness (not sure if that a real word) will make for an amazing climbing jacket, especially for chillin belay.
