The Men's Strato Jacket by Arcteryx is a moisture-wicking, breathable, mid-layer designed for snowsport activities. This fleece jacket is made with the distinctively textured Polartec Thermal Pro, keeping you adaptable and wicking moisture whether you're in the city or in more active backcountry situation. The Strato Jacket is great for expeditions with a volatile climate as its great warmth-to-weight ratio keeps you warm and light on your feet, and won't create too much bulk when its in your pack. As conditions worsen, the durable water repellent finish helps bead water from the fabric surface. Bundle up tight with the full front zip with laminated windflap. Designed with no-lift gusseted underarms so the jacket won't ride up when you throw your hand up for Detroit, I love this city. But of course those are just the lyrics to the song you are listening to because your jamming to your iPod with it stowed in the jackets laminated chest pocket with an internal audio port. Ski on or don't, I don't know why I say this.

"Wear this under your other Arc'teryx jacket"
This is the best mid layer jacket I have ever purchased. I wear this jacket when I go skiing, or hiking. I wear this jacket by itself in 40 and higher weather. The jacket breaths really well, and has a multiple pockets. I have had the jacket for more than a year and it has held up extremely well. The great thing about Arc'teryx products the fact they last forever. I will have this jacket for the next ten years. The jacket is true to size. Please check the color with Arc'teryx, it isn't always the same as what is shown on the website.
The outer layer material texture is not your typical fleece style. It has a cotton look to it. My wife said it looks like our dish towel. The cuffs are not very stretch so if you have big hands this could be a problem for you. It is very warm and fit nice. Despite my wife comment, I like it. good for base layering.
I bought this fleece to layer with an Arcteryx shell and my only complaint is its too warm if the weather isn't freezing outside. As a stand alone jacket it keeps you warm in a cold garage or building but it doesn't cut the wind when you're outside. Rightfully it wasn't designed to cut the wind by itself. To sum up it layers well, fits great and is warm.
"Excellent Product and an excellent layering piece or stand alone"
Yup, I bought another Arcteryx piece and I love this one for the color alone. I guess if you've read my other reviews, you can see I have dropping some coin on this company. I wonder if should be on their payroll. I love this piece and like it better than my Pategonia Better Sweater. This fits better and is great on those 55 degree mornings and afternoons. Great stand alone piece or if you need a little more warmth, use it as a layering piece under your shell. Once again, a GREAT!!!!! product and if you haven't heard, Arcteryx has an awesome warranty on their product.
I've become quite the Arc'Teryx fan, but this jacket didn't quite meet my expectations. First of all the fabric is very different. It's almost like velvet. At first glance I didn't think it would pill then a month or two later I was surprised when it did after minimal use. Next was the fit. Most Arc' pieces have a nice trim profile but I found this one nearly baggy. Last big bummer was the lack of a draw cord. So if it's even approaching freezing and you got a slight wind, it seems to suck any warm air right out of the thing. Conclusion: Only functions as a mid layering piece under a shell. If that's all you want it's not bad, but pretty pricey for a mid layer.
"Might want to consider a different jacket"
I've worn this jacket for almost two years. The Arcteryx quality and the unique not so fleecy pattern were my main reasons for purchasing. I have to say this jacket has been moderately disappointing. The material does not wear well and pills quickly. The cuff material has virtually no stretch so it is hard to get over my hands. The zipper stopped zipping but I was able to salvage it with some deft pliers work. Finally, the wind cuts through this jacket like water through a sieve. My humble recommendation, look for a different jacket.
Looks like some guys just shopped for this and ordered it online. For this purchase I went to the sweet Birmingham location so I could try on, and get the mid-layer fleece that was right for me. I bought this with the bike commute in mind, thus I love the wide nylon cuffs that keep the cold out on the fall morning bike rides. Great for other activities as well, doesn't take much layering underneath to keep warm snowshoeing for example. Also this coat will make you look like a stud!
This is a good-looking and comfortable jacket. Very breathable, mildly water/wind-resistant, and warm for its weight. Some reviewers complained about the cuff, but if using this as a mid-layer (as it should be), they are very convenient and keep the sleeves from bunching up.Now, the cons. There is no elastic or drawcord at the bottom, so wind if you don't have a sweatshirt underneath or a shell over it, wind rips straight up the loose bottom of the jacket. Additionally, the pockets are mesh so if you're trying to use them to warm your hands, forget it.All in all, I'm not totally disappointed, but not totally pleased. Still, for $175, definitely pass.
"Pretty much the perfect mid-layer as well as sweet base lodge jacket"
Great jacket. I use this as my main mid-layer for frigid days. It has a snug (but comfortable) fit so it fits well under all my shells and jackets with still MORE than enough room and space to move around freely. It breathes VERY well, under all exertion conditions. I love the full zip too (versus a pullover). I just wish this had a hem draw-cord, as the bottom is a tad loose on me. (I'm 5' 10", 165 lbs and the medium fits me perfectly) I wish they mad this in bright orange or lime green.
"Perfect fit, great mid layer, cool material"
I've been mulling over a few different mid-layers since mine is worn out.. decided to pull the trigger on the Strato and love it. The warmth is there, and the material has a unique texture that is almost "grippy"... it doesn't move around in the sleeves of my shell and bunch up like some others. I dig this jacket. So will you.
