The Arc'teryx Men's Beta LT Jacket is a no-nonsense GORE-TEX® Pro waterproof shell that is light enough to take with you on any pursuit. My buddy Jeff owns one of these and I'm always jealous when I see him wearing it on hiking trips. I asked him to give me a quick review but he muttered something about me doing my own job. Jeff is grumpy today. But the Beta LT doesn't care how grumpy or incosiderate you might be towards your friends, it will still keep you fully protected from rain and wind. Weighing in at 12.5 oz, it is extremely packable and will withstand being crammed into your pack, even in a grumpy Jeff-like manner. So pick up this shell and rest assured that it will always be there for you when times get tough, even if you've alienated everybody else in your life. Like Jeff.

"Very good all-around functional lightweight jacket."
It breathes very very well. Once you start sweating, it starts breathing. Wore it all day in Red Rock around Vegas hiking (14mi) in sunny, warm temps (70s) and windy weather (up to 70mph gusts) to keep the sun off and had no issues with being overheated and the wind was blocked very well. It was actually more comfortable hiking in the jacket than without. It rolls fairly small, about the size of 3 adjacent softballs. My only wish is that it rolled smaller. Layering may be necessary. It is great for water- and wind-proofing, but will not keep you warm. While it blocks wind very well, if straight on your skin the lining material itself can be cold. But this is easily remedied with layers. Order on the small side of your size for a tighter / stylish fit. The arms are pretty loose fit, torso / waist is tighter. Pockets are perfect for backpacking. Cords and adjustments all to keep wind out. Zips up above the nose to keep warmth.
I have owned this jacket for 7 years, and it still looks brand new despite very heavy use. It is a great outer shell and is super versatile. I use it around town and while hiking in all four seasons. Just drop a layer under it, and it's super warm. Arc'teryx is the highest quality gear you can get in my opinion, especially the Canadian made stuff.
"Good jacket for both city use and mountaining use"
At first, I'm choosing my first Arcteryx jacket from Alpha ar, Beta ar, Beta lt. Finally I decided to get the Beta lt only because it's on sale on Moosejaw and it's cheaper than the others. However when I finally get it, I found it super good. It's very light and with crazy water proof. Since I'm using it for both skiing and regular city use, I think it's the best choice of me.
This is my second Arc'teryx shell and the quality continues to be legendary. My first one has been to hell and back without a single scratch and I am hoping this one will continue the tradition. This versatility of the shell is amazing. I can use this Beta LT while I'm hiking around Colorado Springs, during a downpour on campus, or while snowboarding at Tahoe and feel comfortable all the while. As long as you know how to layer properly, this jacket could take you down into the polar vortex and back, no questions asked. The one downside of this jacket was the lack of pit-zips. They're not a necessity but are nice to have in case you get a little bit steamy in warmer weather. I'm 6'2" and 175lbs and the large fits me perfectly. I obviously highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a new shell that's versatile.
Super lightweight to travel with for those unexpected weather days with great protection from the elements. I've used this to locally, fall, spring and even winter and travelled with it to Asia and Canada. I ordered a small, I'm a smaller build at 145lb and 5'9" and along with other Arcteryx jackets, the size is spot on. Keep in mind that it is an athletic fit, but is is true to size and fits great on me. The jacket is simple, clean and well designed. $500 for a paper thin material, some say is crazy, but it's well worth it. I tried using it snowboarding and it's great, but it doesn't have the waist gaiter so don't fall in powder. :)No negatives on this one. I love it.
i use this jacket all the time! love the wind and rain protection i get even it hard rain or very windy cold days! love the athletic cut and fit, enough room to layer, but not overly baggy. very rugged and durable! i highly recommend this jacket!
Doesn't look too bulky, perfect for everyday use. When tested against crazy rainstorm the other day, it held together perfectly --- no one drop of rain came in & I didn't even notice that it was that windy outside. Love it!! I have the Heron & am loving the color.
"Versatile jacket that can be used in a variety of conditions"
This is a great jacket that can be used as a rain jacket in the summer over a t-shirt or a ski jacket over a fleece (or multiple layers) in the winter. I live in Atlanta and only ski 3-5 days/yr in Colorado. I wanted a year-round jacket that I also could layer and use as a ski jacket in the winter. It works perfectly for that. And it looks great. I'm 5'11" 160 lbs. and the medium is perfect.
"Fantastic against wind, struggles in rain"
6'1 150 pounds, fit's my skinny body perfectly. It's very athletic and I still have room for layers underneath. This jacket is outstanding in the wind. I can't even feel the wind when I wear there and sometimes it makes me wonder if my entire body was covered in this material.. How cool would that be. Pockets are nice, zippers are great. RAIN!! NO!! I live in Seattle so it rains 300 days out of the year. I brought this to a Sounders game the other night while my brother wore a SOUNDERS jacket that cost him 80 dollars. His jacket was repelling rain like nothing I've seen before while mine was soaked. I couldn't believe it because I also have a REI 75 dollar rain jacket that does MUCH better than this thing. I would return it but I feel bad wasting Moosejaw's time with it. I've already had to exchange one jacket in the past due to a malfunction..But to be honest, I'm not happy that it costs me $400.00 for a jacket that can't repel water.
I received this coat as a gift and have loved every minute of wearing it. I don't like bulky coats, but still want to be warm. This jacket is perfect, I wear is all winter long too and it does its job!
