The Men's Atom SV Hoody by Arcteryx. Significantly warmer and more protective than a fleece jacket, this insulated hoody is breathable enough to be used as a super warm mid-layer on frigid days and protective enough to be an outer layer while belaying or hanging out at camp. An extra thick dose of synthetic Coreloft insulates but packs small, and a light tricot underarm panel enhances breathability.

"This is the best winter insulator jacket I have ever had" 06/01/13
The jacket is toasty warm, I love it. this is one of the warmest jackets that i have ever had. The sleeves are long, I have long arms and they do a great job of keeping them covered. The jacket also has wrist gators that do a great job of keeping wind and cold out of the jacket. The jacket fits like a glove. I highly recommend the jacket to anyone looking for a great warm winter jacket
"pretty light and warm" 01/31/13
Arcteryx atom sv hoody is super warm, lightweight and comfortable...Great for around town on a chilly day or you can hit the mountains, the only minus i can think of is colors i wish arcteryx would change up there color schemes....If your looking for a good mid-layer the atom jacket w/o the hood is great =)
"Best non-down Insulated Jackets" 01/05/13
The construction is well-considered and there are some nice features that I have grown to expect from Arcteryx products. The fit is amazing, it's lightweight and extremely packable. If you looking for a non-down Insulated Jackets that will keep you warm this is the best in the world.
"An Absolute Killer Jacket" 12/11/12
My wife got this for me for Christmas last year. I have had it out in northern Michigan standing alone or under an old Theta AR. As every reviewer has stated, it is incredibly warm for the weight. If you try it on in the store, don't be fooled by the weight. It is really THAT warm. If there was one Arc'teryx item to buy, this would be it. Hands down. Well, they do make a lot of good stuff, so maybe it should be just the first thing to buy.
"Why Do I Even Own Other Coats?" 12/06/12
If I could comfortably pull this coat off in the summer, I would. I always thought there was no way a synthetic could stand up to some good down, but when it comes to versatility and warmth-weight ratio, this thing stands alone. Super lightweight, very packable for a non-down jacket, and it's slim cut while remaining warm. I use this to bike to work in negative temps and tend to overheat in anything but a merino T. From active to casual, this coat is it.
"Light, packable, warm" 11/24/12
This packs quite small (big grapefruit) and is light, but when you need to put it on it is very warm and stands up to abuse and whatever the weather throws at you. I've used in on 10F days in blowing snow on hikes and it has not let me down. The hood cinches down well and the cuffs are close-fitting so gloves can go over the top. Great value!
"Lightweight, warm and stylish" 04/08/12
Bought this as my winter coat for college. I go to college in connecticut and have to walk to class approximately 20min. in the winter 3 times a week. This coat is super effective for blocking wind and rain/snow and can be comfortably worn down to about 30 degrees with just a shirt underneath. When it gets really cold I put a fleece underneath and could probably take this baby to negative degrees easily. I really like how the coat is non-bulky and I can wear the thing through class if I want to, as it is comfortable and stylish. Awesome coat.
"Greatest insulating layer ever. Cost meets preformance" 01/17/12
This jacket is amazing get this versus the other version on the atom. The vent sides on the other one makes you cold but this one is amazing. I am 6ft 185 lbs pretty lean and the large is perfect. Besides the compliments every time I wear it this jacket is the best midlayer of all time. I often use it as the only jacket i wear, very wind resistant and water resistant. Bottom line buy it i assure you that you will not be disapointed.
"I would buy 10 more if I could." 01/02/12
This is my new go to jacket. It is hard to believe how warm this jacket is considering how little it weighs. I am 5'9" and 155 lbs and a medium fits just right. I live in San Francisco and it is perfect for those cold, foggy days. I have yet to test it in the rain, but not planning on using it as my rain coat. Construction is solid, as I have come to expect from ArcTeryx. To top it off, the jacket looks killer too. I would definitely buy another in different colors.
"Worth trading your firstborn child for this amazing jacket" 12/18/11
I debated between getting the Atom LT and the Atom SV and I'm thrilled I went with the heavier SV. When I don't need a hard shell in rain or wet conditions, this has become my go-to jacket for the Chicago winter. It's windproof and exceptionally warm for being so lightweight, and the adjustable hem and hood are a big plus. I thought the nightshade was more of a dark navy blue, but it's a charcoal color that I like even better. I'm 6'0", 170 pounds and I purchased a medium. For me, it's roomy enough to layer a hoody or Patagonia R1 underneath.
"Great Jacket!" 12/15/11
This is one of the best jackets I've ever owned. Very light and comfortable. Wore this to let my puppy out at 3am with nothing on underneath In ND when it was -5F wind chill. Completely windproof and very warm. One may think it's a little pricey for such a lightweight jacket but its always going to be the highest quality coming from Arcteryx! I'm 6'3" 230 and the XL is a perfect fit. Thanks MOOSEJAW!
"Worth The Money" 12/09/11
13 degrees F today and nothing but a t-shirt and my SV. Warm and toasty. This jacket is very unassuming. It's light, thin, extremely comfortable and very warm. I will be wearing this jacket throughout the Wisconsin winter. Normally i have an issue with large being to wide in the torso and a medium being to short in the torso and arms. I'm 5'10" 170, 41" chest and 34" waist, and the medium fits me perfectly.
