"One of the best pieces I own" 04/12/13
Seriously, this jacket is as good as its reputation. Buy this piece if you want an extremely versatile layer that you will use year round in the hills. I have used a lot this winter and love how well it breathes, blocks wind, and keeps me warm. I would love to own another for around town.
"love this coat!" 04/04/13
I bought this coat for my 5'11', 125 lb.,14 year old son for Christmas. It is a good-looking, great-fitting coat. He is a tall, skinny kid and I bought him the small. It fits great in the arms and is the perfect length for his lanky torso! Nice and light weight and easily stuffable in his backpack. Keeps him toasty warm and can easily become a base layer if an added coat is necessary.
"The perfect midlayer/light jacket" 03/17/13
I am 5"10, fairly slim at 140 pounds and I have a 38" chest. I ordered the medium which fits perfectly so for me at least the sizing chart is set too small. The fit of the jacket could not be better for its intended usage. The sleeve cuffs are perfection, not too tight, but tight enough that when you put on a raincoat over the top, the sleeves don't ride up to your elbows. I have also had compliments about the jacket when worn in the city, so it also looks good.Overall a great jacket, but I would size up.
"My hubby loves it!" 02/21/13
I bought this for my husband - he loves it, wears it (really) everyday. Very durable, kept him very warm during harsh winter. Because he loves it so much, I am planning to buy one for myself as well!
"This jacket is amazing" 02/20/13
This jacket is great. The grey color is very fashionable. This jacket is great on its own for more temperate days and perfect for layering when it is really cold! Water proof and perfect hood that zips part way over the face for snow or rain. Really worth the investment! Perfect for almost all weather!
"The Perfect Jacket" 02/06/13
Got this item a few weeks back, and pretty I much don't wear any other jacket anymore. It has been perfect so far for skiing as a mid layer in the mid 20s, to only jacket on cool days in the 40s-50s. Never get too warm or too cold in it. This is the most I've ever spent on a jacket, but it has been worth every penny.
"Extremely comfortable, very warm, perfect everyday midwest winter jacket" 02/04/13
This jacket is my favorite everyday winter jacket to withstand unpredictable Missouri winters. The polartec material in the underarm and side area allows the jacket to breathe excellently, so much so that this was a perfect midlayer for a recent ski trip to Breckenridge. The jacket vented so much better as a mid layer than most. I experienced zero condensation -- even under a poorly breathing H2no shell. The wrist cuffs are by far the most comfortable that I've experienced in any piece of outwear I've ever owned.
"For the $$ it is an excellent product." 01/28/13
I have used this product twice now. Once in the wilderness in colder weather than it is made for and the other was around town in winter type weather. The jacket held up very well and is considerably warm. It fits well underneath my Patagonia hardshell.I use it as an insulating layer when out backpacking. It fits tight but that's what I wanted. I'm 6' 197lbs and a large fits me perfectly. The only small complaint is that the hood doesn't draw tight but I didn't have any trouble with it in the wind. Just something I noticed when wearing.
"Warm when you need it to be. Easily packable." 01/14/13
Denver hit the negative digits over the weekend so I went to the Boulder store to get a new down jacket. This one is just more versatile and the price was right for Arcteryx quality. It's is best used when moving but I stayed comfortable outside in -4 temps with this a cheap base layer and a fleece. Packs great and best of all it fits an athletic body. I am 6' 2" and 180 lbs. And the large fits me perfectly. Long arms, good length with a drop tail. Can't wait to get it in the trails.
"Impressive yet simple" 01/09/13
The outer material is very high quality, pictures can't do it justice. The coreloft insulation is super soft, springy, and gives the feel of the perfect balance between weight and warmth while remaining minimalist. The construction of the side vents is better than I've ever seen. The cuffs are a thick but soft spandex which hugs your wrists nicely without the annoyance of velcro. The only dislike I have is the hood, not for lack of draw string but because it is made for a helmet which makes no sense to me. Shells should stretch over helmets to keep moisture out, but insulation layers like this should be form fitting and next to the skin. Why do I need to keep my helmet warm?
"Great Product." 12/31/12
I have four Arcteryx jackets, recently purchased this one. Coreloft insulation is a really great product, especially when its mated to a great brand like Arcteryx. I spent a year deployed to eastern afghanistan in the mountains. Base altitude was 7800ft, we were issued a 7 layer system and the beefy jacket had coreloft insulation, great product (drys fast and keeps you toasty). I'm a manager for a large railroad now and wore this in about 28 degree weather during a derailment for 10+ hrs. The hood is great, as well as the the cut of the jacket. The hood does a great job keeping your head and neck warm, even to the point where you don't have to wear a beenie.
