Took this backpacking for a few days. 27-45 degrees f. Never needed another layer. very warm. Nice stiff fabric. The banding around the collar is nice and doesnt create any friction with neck stubble. All of my companions plan to get one now. Couldnt be happier with it.
Keeps me cozy in all seasons, when summer nights get chilly, when winter days get colder, when the fall days make the wind blow the leaves, when I wake up and get out of my cave in the spring. Previously owned the Maverick fleece, this is the same done better.
"Highly versatile fleece (that's worth the price)"
I spent a week in northern BC in Dec for work, and I had to use this fleece as my top layer, as my regular winter jacket wouldn't fit under my Nomex (fire resistant) suit. While this wasn't what I got the jacket for originally, it more than delivered. We were spending 6+ hours outside per day, and this fleece kept me more than warm (my Nomex wasn't insulated), even in temps down to -30F. (To be fair, I did have on winter Under Armour, a t-shirt, and a waffle shirt as well.) I'm 5'7", 140lb, and I ordered a small. Under normal conditions, the fleece fits well (not too snug, not too loose, definitely not constricting). With additional layers underneath, the jacket was snug but not restricting.
This fleece is great, I wore it as my insulation layer while skiing in Jackson Hole and it did its job great. It's actually pretty wet resistant. There was a point where I just skied in the fleece and took a fall and the snow that stuck on eventually melted but it didn't soak through. It's super warm as well. I have a few gripes which is, it fits a bit loose, I was hoping that it would be a snug fit like the Arc'teryx RHO AR. It sort of looks like the jacket is really stiff, which brings me to the laminated pockets, they're super stiff that when you sit down, it pushes against you. I would recommend this fleece if you need something really warm.
From the mountains of Afghanistan, to the Pac Northwest, this is my "go-to" sweater.Warm, well laid out, and subtly stylish, this is the type of garment you can pull on in cool evenings or winter days, and kick the crap out of cold. With a light windbreaker or jacket, you've got a combo to hit the slopes, or trek through the foothills.I've thrown this on for a week on the trail, and travel to distant lands and it's comfortable, managable, and a practical addition to any serious adventurer's wardrobe.Arc'Teryx takes the trouble out of writing reviews, by being consistently excellent, and the Apache Cardigan is the rule, rather than the exception.Cheers, and happy adventures!
This is butter. No really, this piece is smooth. I just love this fleece so much. I purchased the quarter zip version last year and just recently bought the full zip version. A top notch piece from Arcteryx. As always. Very warm yet breathable. Durable fabric as expected from Polartec. The stitching is first rate. Makes other fleeces from the competition seem amateur. It really does. Great job on a fantastic product, Arcteryx! I'm hooked for life.
I bought the bright apple green in 2010 and the colors have changed in 2011.This is by far the best fleece I own…and I own a lot of fleeces. It also looks like the 2011 are now full zip where mine is half. This is defiantly the first jacket I grab out the door. Compressible enough to stuff in my pack and the best mid layer I own. If you buy this jacket you will get tons of complements out on the town and stand out from the crowd. I am a medium and find Arc’teryx jackets to run a little tight but that’s what you want in a mid layer.
This fleece is great and has probably now become my new go-to. I have the AR zip also and I think I prefer this one over the AR. The pockets on this are nice, the lamination is a nice feature on them. The Fleece is so soft and warm. The only complaint I have is that the black color collects and shows lint and fuzz badly. That's still not enough to bring it down a star. I also would like to have seen some more exotic colors in this fleece. Although I must say that the black is downright sexy! All in all, this is the type of quality you expect from Arc'teryx.
