Oh boy oh boy, Arc'teryx jackets. Every product description writer's dream. All of them are so expertly built with such attention to detail that I will never be at a loss for words. The Men's Alpha LT Jacket is no exception. This hard shell is constructed of GORE-TEX® Pro Shell, a light, breathable and durable 3-layer material. Great on its own around the campfire or on belay (the HemLock feature will keep it in place while wearing a harness) the Alpha LT also makes an incredible outer layer in cold Winter conditions (pit-zips will prevent overheating). It has an anatomical shape that makes the whole thing fit like a glove. It's like a full-body glove.... perfect fit, full coverage, extreme protection.

This is a real gem of a jacket.I live in Calgary,Canada and this winter temperatures plummeted to -30F on many occasions. I went out running in -30C weather for about 5km, and wore this jacket under a merino woollen under layer and a mid layer and then this jacket. It was very lightweight, rustled a bit, but kept me warm and also stayed dry.I also used it in sleet/rainy weather with the merino under layer and the jacket alone, and again it was great. It has worked very well in the fall, winter and early spring.Highly recommend the jacket.Oh and it is very packable for travel.
I can't say enough about this jacket. I wore this through a three month NOLS Patagonia expedition, in which we saw about 65 days of rain, bushwhacked through wet Lenga, and dealt with a few big storms up on a glacier. This jacket performed beautifully. It kept me dry (Pro-Shell is a minor miracle), stood up to a lot of abuse with only very minimal wear, and is super light for such protection. As a mountain jacket, it's great - the harness keeper really works, you can trust the pockets to keep your stuff dry, and the hood works great with or without a helmet. I wouldn't recommend it, however, as an "around town" jacket - I miss having normal hand warmer pockets, and it looks a little too techy for casual wear, in my opinion. That being said, this is the apex of lightweight mountain shells - breathable, waterproof, durable, and light. It really is worth the price.
