This hat is very light and comfortable. Although it's thin, it still keeps my head warm on cold days. And I think it was made more so you could easily wear it under a helmet. If this is something you were looking for that reason then this is it!
After buying the first of these,I went back and got another two for me and my wife. They fit well, not too thick and no itch. Warm enough for most of the winter and keep their stretch - even now after three years of use. Big thumbs up for Arc'teryx on this product.
The hat is made of quality fabrics and stands up to a good amount of punishment, but it doesn't completely cover my ears. I would not reccommend this hat for cold winter activites with high winds, but it works great for moderate temps in the mid 30s plus.
This beanie is absolutely awesome. Not only is it lightweight and breathable, but it looks totally ballin' to boot. Every time I wear this hat, girls swarm me in flocks just to touch it. If you want to lay the smack down on the ladies, and keep your head nice and toasty at the same time, this is the hat for you.Word.
"Good beanie, just not right fit for me."
This would be a good beanie for sitting around a campfire or other relaxed outdoor activities. It really wouldn't make a great hat for more severe cold though, because it's not very thick, it isn't windproof, and it is much too short to cover ears. Also, and this was what ruined it for me, my head is on the larger size, and the rim of the beanie is too small for me and not very stretchy. My much younger brother is putting it to use, though.
This beanie is typical Arc'Teryx.... very well-made, high quality. Warm, soft, and nice looking. Doesn't quite cover all of my ear, but still keeps me warm in moderately cold weather. The fit is a tad big on me, but the stretchy band keeps the hat in place nicely. Not for folks with really tiny heads. Plan to use on spring and fall hikes. Got the black to match my Covert hoodie. Black tends to be a magnet for dog hair, but that just adds to the insulation value.
