"Great shoes for trails." 06/12/13
I was hiking the trails around the water falls at Treman State Park in Ithaca NY last week. I didn't bring my boots because I didn't want the extra weight while in Ithaca for a reunion. I brought my Vibrams which I usually use for working out with me instead. The trails were muddy and slippery from the rain the few days before. I hiked 2 miles down from the top of the falls with ease. No slipping or problems from the mud. I ran the 2.5 miles back up along another trail on the other side of the falls, again no problems with the mud. Feet got a bit wet from the moisture in the ground but that was expected because these are not water proof. Even with the added moisture in the shoes, no blisters after 4.5 miles. I love these shoes.
"These Ruined Me For "Regular" Shoes...." 10/29/12
I'm a big, athletic type guy who's always been hard on shoes, ankles and knees. I the TrekSports on the off chance that the whole 5 toes as nature designed our feet to work concept would ease some of my chronic foot and ankle pain. After the first two hours walking around the house...I decided that everyone in my family was getting a pair of Vibram 5 Fingers. Here's the nitty gritty: Once I figured out how to get my toes into the right spots, my feet let out a huge sigh of relief. The instability in my left ankle vanished...a feet even $700 orthopedic inserts couldn't pull off. Walking became fun. Trotting even funner. Running flat out is a blast.
"Good for building unused muscles, only for short distances" 10/02/12
I constantly get questions about these. Mostly people want to know if they're comfortable. Not really. They're a pain to put on, even after months.I keep wearing them for running. They're great training. I feel myself using all kinds of muscle groups, from my ankles up through my abs, when I run with these. And it's helped my race times. I don't recommend them for more than 4 miles. I also like that the shoes are machine washable (but don't dry them!)Cons: long comfort adaptation; occasional blisters even after months of use; not good for hiking or trail running. They get dirty beyond washing, and the lack of support will really tire your body if it is any kind of long distance.
"Not what I expected........" 08/28/12
If my right shoe had fit like my left one I would have loved them. The right shoe hurt my big toe so bad i couldn't stand to wear them. Its a shame to because I really wanted to get into the whole barefoot craze after reading Christoper McDougall's book. Oh well.....
"Most Versatile Shoe on the Planet" 07/24/12
The KSO TrekSport were my second pair and I am even more impressed with the TrekSport than I was with my KSO's. The TrekSports are ideal for every type of hike I can come across here in Minnesota. The cleat like underside are ideal for gripping grass, gravel, boulders, river bottoms, beach sand, and even help with thin ice/snowy conditions. I love these shoes. They are so versatile. Definitely recommend getting a nice pair of SmartWool Injinji socks for those colder days. These are the go anywhere, do anything Vibrams.
"Are you serious *****Outstanding****" 05/30/12
Whitewater rafting, treking through the wood to get to the class 4 rapids in South America...these shoes (if you call them shoes) are amazing. You have to walk your toes in the shoe and do not walk heel toe. Great fit I am a 14 and I am almost at the edge but if they can withstand the jungle of South America then they get two thumbs up from me. A+++++++++++++Big E.....Long Island, NY
"Plain awesomeness" 05/16/12
I got my pair as a gift and thought "ok, kinda cool i guess." But then I learned to love them. They are not only great for hiking, but also awesome for everyday wear. I specially love to put em on when I'm barefoot and I'm too lazy to put socks on. I've also used em a couple times on climbing trips to wear when not in the climbing shoes. They also did great down Jackass Canyon leading to the Grand Canyon. For watersports, a different pair of VFFs would be better, but these do fine for that too, I've taken them a couple times cliff jumping and into some creeks. Overall awesome product, absolutely love them and recommend them
"Great Feel. Great Traction. Seams coming undone?" 05/04/12
I've put about 250 (mostly trail) miles since February. I've worn them through a Tough Mudder and other obstacle races.First of all, I'm never going back to "normal" running shoes. My calf muscles have greatly developed, and I no longer have IT band problems or shin splints. The traction is great and going up off-road hills is real easy. These are also real lightweight and don't get weighed down when wet or muddy. However, after I finished the TMer, I hand washed and let drip dry, and I saw two spots where the seams had unraveled (no rips). Vibram claimed excessive wear and tear and wouldn't exchange. Understandable, but I wasn't thrilled. The wife sewed them up fine.
"AWESOME AWESOME SHOE" 05/02/12
Totally love these shoes. I use them for just about everything. I have 2 pairs of Fivefinger shoes and really like both of them. I like how versatile they are. I run about 4 times a week and have ditched my running shoes and now I run in my Fivefingers. You can't go wrong with the purchase........So what are you waiting for just buy them already
"One of the best things I have ever bought!" 04/06/12
I have owned a pair of VFF Speed for about 5 months now, and it's for my casual wear and not for running. All my running shoes are getting worn out, and I could finally have some good excuses to get a pair of VFF running shoes. It's been days since I got them, and I love wearing them. I definitely run a bit faster, at least I feel that way because they are so light :)
