The Ultratape Slings by Trango could be made from the best ever material for sewn slings and draws. The proprietary weave of Spectra and nylon, combined with the narrow 12mm width, results in one of the most durable, lightweight and strongest (25kN) slings around. Slings are a single open loop. The 24" Sling is long enough to wear over winter clothes and the 48" is perfect for a doubled shoulder sling.

Do NOT use these slings for prussiks, rapell back ups, or other friction hitches as another reviewer mentioned. These slings are made of a nylon/dyneema weave. Dyneema has a low melting point and if your knot slips while ascending or descending the heat could burn through it. Use nylon cord or slings instead. That said I've been pretty happy with these. They are relatively light, not too bulky, strong, and more durable than ultralight dyneema slings.

"Awesome slings" 12/12/12

I have been using theses slings for a while and they are great for their price. They are light and will do the job. They also look good. I really like the variety of colours.

"Thinner than BD nylon slings, thicker than BD Dynex slings" 12/01/12

Great quality and excellent price! The slings themselves are thicker than BD dynex slings, but are still thinner than standard nylon slings. Means these work perfectly for making alpine draws on more normally sized carabiners (personal preference is the Mammut Element keylocks with a BD wiregate), but tends to get a bit choked up double lapped on smaller biners such as the metolious FS mini...Other than that, I love 'em!

"Super solid slings" 09/11/12

These are my favorite slings. I have all three sizes of them (12, 24, 48 in) as well as some of the Ultratape dogbones, which make a 13cm draw. I use the 12in to rack my gear on (just for storage/organization), the 24in as an over the head/shoulder sling for carrying gear as well as for trad draws, and the 48 inch for use in anchor systems. These slings are not much heavier than similar Dyneema slings I have but are rated to 25kn and feel extremely solid. I have a (slightly irrational) fear of letting dyneema slings come in contact with other dyneema (such as looping the slings several times around a carabiner in a trad draw) so these nylon slings work perfectly for me.

"Great slings for the money" 03/09/12

I snagged a few double shoulder length (I think they're 46") with the intention of using them to protect natural features, to build anchors, and for those times when you really need length to clear a roof etc. So far, they have performed very well. I always carry them doubled as shoulder slings, as they are quite bulky to carry as extendable draws. The weight and feel (not to mention the 25kn rating) are confidence inspiring. I have yet to whip on one, but I am confident that if utilized properly, these slings will hold. As far as value goes, I'm not sure you'll find a better deal. New leaders should stock up on these.

"Good slings if you're getting alot of them!" 12/21/11

These are good, solid slings. They're a little bit on the big/bulky side, but if you're stocking up, it's hard to do better for the price. I use singles for alpine draws, and doubles over the shoulder for anchors and extending out pieces.Your rack will be more colorful than everyone elses, too.

"These slings are awesome. The perfect middle between nylon and dyneema." 11/06/11

These are now my favorite slings. They are strong, handle well, and appear to be tough as nails. If you can't decide between nylon and dyneema just get these, you'll be happy you did.

"Choosing color would be nice for organizing your slings, but sometimes you just have to rough it..." 10/24/11

You can’t beat this for the price, especially if you are just starting out and want to add some versatility to your rack. For any newbies, if you go with the 48", you can easily turn it into a 24". You can't pull out a sling stretcher in the middle of your adventures.The rating of 25kN is more than spec requires, so thumbs up there. The material is smooth and pliable, and very nice for untying knots. It is thick enough to feel comfortable entrusting your life to it, while also being light enough to feel comfortable carrying it wherever you need to. Great product.

Only drawback is they send you all different colors. I wish I could choose the color, that way I can keep an eye on my sling when sharing on multipitch.

"Well worth the money." 06/15/11

These slings are great. I like the fact that they are fairly narrow and less stiff than most of the other slings I've worked with. I've got a couple of the 48" ones and when I have to double them up for shorter anchors my biners don't get as crowded up. There's no noticeable difference in weight, and I think they actually take up less space in my pack. Plus they come in cool colors. All in all I'd say they're a smart buy.

"Strong, soft" 06/08/11

These are a little thicker than some other slings, but still much smaller than nylon ones. They have a little more bulk and weight to them, but they are also easier to untie after you knot them.
