Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice mid-weight fabric pant--not for international travel-like the older versions Pros: They are a very nice, durable pant. Great pant, love that they are pants, capris, shorts. . .three for one money. The zipper tabs on the pant legs are colored coded to mark right leg, left leg and that's a nice feature.,,,,Cons: North Face has started using velcro pocket closures on these pants. These pants do not have an interior pocket. The pant pockets are shallow and butt up to the other pockects, which means you can't really use both pockets without stuff falling out. Bought these pants expecting the same features of an older pair of North Face convertible pants that I used to tramp around third world countries. Not. . .,,

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Baggy - Also 112 lbs 5'5" equals size 2 First, for those who write reviews, giving only your height or saying you're normally a 2 and they fit great is not helpful. Are you normally a 2 at Old Navy or Nordstroms? Where you're normally a 2 makes a difference. So height and weight please. As for these particular pants, I was so excited to get them for a multi-day hike that I ripped the tags off right away and wore them out for errands. I discovered I didn't like the way the pants moved. They are very baggy in the legs, especially around the lower half. When I put my gaiters on, the pants ballooned out over top and looked silly. It's all just too relaxed to be flattering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from three pairs of pants in one Love the idea of 3-in-1: pants, capris and shorts. That's 3, COUNT THEM 3 BOTTOMS, for the price of one (well, 4 if one includes one's built-in bottom) ,,,,My avid adventures with these britches involve being a Public School High Teacher in the Detroit area AND a single Mom of 3 wee bairns. These pants give me more credibility with my students and kids than ANY Theme Sweater EVER could!,,,,They run a bit small and sit low on the waist so if you have a Muffin Top issue, go up a size. Air dry them too. The word on the street is that they otherwise will shrink.,,,,Be like me and buy 2: one for you and one for your Mom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worn in 3 different countries and during 4 different seasons, AWESOME in each one. I originally bought a pair to wear while in the Ecuadorian Amazon a few years ago. They were great! The waterproofing worked and the easy conversion to shorts was a lifesaver. I continued to wear them for all of my field research once I was back in the States in Arkansas. I love their durability so much that I bought a second pair (and about to buy a third) for when I went to the Falkland Islands. I am 5'8" and weigh ~110 lbs and bought a size 2. My second pair were slightly larger than my first, so I had enough room to wear a base layer and jeans under them to keep warm during the Falkland winter. I would highly recommend these pants to any biologist, adventurer, or backyard birder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best.Pants.Ever. I was super excited when these pants arrived and didn't want to wait at all to try them... so I went out in the rain and did a relatively easy hike. I'm pretty sure my dog was jealous of them.. that or she was just trying to get out of the rain.. because for a pit bull who used to roam the streets.. she's really a priss about rain. Anyway, the pants are fantastic- they kept me dry and allowed me to run and climb and jump and fall as much as I wanted. The mud also washed out quite nicely. I wish I could wear them every day.. I am sure I will be buying another pair.. or two.. towards that goal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from May depend on your body type I am 5'5", 135 lbs, and bought this in the 10. The size was okay, but the fit was strange. They were way too long but awkwardly tight in other places. Ladies with less booty, no hips, and smaller thighs might do fine with these, but for me, no, not so much. The material was strange - kind of weirdly stiff - and the cargo pockets were not as generous I would like. I was hoping for something with some good pockets that I could shove full of stuff and material that would move with me clambering over boulders in the backcountry. The way the legs zipped off was really nice, and the pants seemed quality, but in the end these were not for me and I sent them back. The quest for the perfect zip off cargo pants continues!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice convertible pants! This is great to bring on a trip where it can be hot or cold on the same day. Also great for packing light because it can be worn three ways-pants, capris, shorts. My girlfriend have a hard time finding pants that fit well and these are the right length, and fit perfectly. It has a drawstring that allows tightening for those who are smaller waisted. These pants are very flattering but are also quite comfortable and seem durable. The pockets are well thought out and useful. The legs are just wide enough to allow some ventilation, without looking sloppy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid pair of hiking pants I picked up a pair of these for my summer hiking. I love how easily they convert to shorts or capris for the warmer weather! They dry fast and clean easy! I did order a size up because some people said they run small, but my normal size would work just fine. My biggest beef with the pants is that they do overheat quickly if you need to keep them long in rougher terrain. Otherwise I absolutely love the durability! I definitely recommend for backcountry adventures.
